That's a fair analogy... although I would also mention that in options, there is a price to be paid for the time frame. Unlike in cards, the longer you stare at your hand has no bearing on the amount you need to call the current raise/pot. In options, there is a steady erosion of price based on time remaining and therefore DOES affect your risk/reward ratio.
