Agree Newly2b. Long for the mid century open spaces and economic growth and fear for what the next generation will face. Love the never changing Monterey Bay coast line. Climate may change; but granite seldom does. My charts predict/forecast nothing. Unless its a near perfect entry, I pass. Mostly cash and waiting for the next crash. Likely a Mideast event. And may the algo's be damned.

Big sells on AAPL now - looking for my exit.
--huge sell-off a few minutes ago - maybe that was why
Not maybe, for sure. But not everybody uderstands the implications.
There is a question as to whether the Greek government is really going to pay off the 47% haircut amount. That's a default.
Resulting uncertainty is what the market always dislikes.
My IWM 1, 5 and 15-minute chart indicators are getting pretty deep into oversold.
There was a huge sell-off a few minutes ago - maybe that was why. Hope it continues!
Good - I'm also watching the Fri afternoon manipulation of AAPL, which tends to drag the indices around. If AAPL surges, I'm outta here.

I'm sitting right on top of it - not sure when to bail. I notice that the closer we get to the end, any rebounds are very big.
Please advise - is it because of Theta?

Hour to go. Nice puts gains in hand(s). What do you have in mind to do?
Ring the bell here or expect more?
The name is not familiar, but then I didn't stay in touch much.
Looks like we are rocking now. I am so glad that I bailed on my Qs and moved over to IWM. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jane,
Oh yah, Youston.
I talked to Lou a few days ago and thought to tell her about you.
Small world she replied. Her grandson will be 12 this Oct 1, my oldest great.
Did you know anybody surname Goswick? I ran into Horace at a PTA meeting several years before your graduation, maybe junior highish, never having seen him since we were classmates at A & M ca 1947-8. Not since either.
Nah Roy - I'm here in Houston. Remember - I was a Westbury grad just one year ahead of your daughter.
I sure hope we can get off this sideways drift - it's like torture.
Jane,
I didn't realize you were from Atlanta, er, uh, Etlanner, aka Hotlana.

That's junk bond rate territory, more likely than not to fail.

I admire your optimism, smartone. Wish I could feel more confidence in the outcome myself, but I figure, prepare for the worst and hope for the best, and if nothing horrible happens what have I lost except a little money, whereas if the worst does happen, my choice of investments should protect me from a total wipeout. At least that is the plan, though as we all know "the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry", LOL. . .

i agree .. i thought the move was down but after i pulled trigger Da Boys kept sideways
it will take alot to break 65.00 on friday like this..
got my finger on trigger to jump ship if it doesn't break 65.00 in near future
Hi, Roy. Yes, I have been taking defensive action since 2001. My current dilemma is whether or not to sell my real estate holdings in this country and put that money in foreign real estate. Still going back and forth on that issue. Otherwise, happy with my choices for my liquid net worth (PMs and foreign currencies in foreign banks) since all have gone up since I invested. Doesn't mean that will continue, of course (as we all know, past performance is no guarantee of future performance, LOL), but having a portion of my liquid assets out of the country and out of the USD makes me feel a bit more secure. Currently also debating whether or not to go deeper into the PMs with inactive cash earning nothing in banks here. The big argument against investing in PMs seems to be that they do not generate an income stream, but then, neither does cash in the bank these days and that cash is losing purchasing power daily whereas gold is at least holding its own (more or less), so. . .
Newly
smartone, I sure like your QQQ strike selection.
Pretty small premium with four and a half hours to go.
I'm less convinced about the liklihood of QQQ heading south. My technical stuff is consistent with a decline, but not so much as to rule out more sideways.
Thinking about joining you at seven cents. May try SPY instead. Or SLV

i think that US is going to rebound .. there are so many opportunities
We are the greatest innovators in the world and will continue to be .
For example we are moving into post OIL world. ... US is in the forefront of technological advances in Green Technology. Every county is going to need these innovations and US economy will be the benefactor.
Hi Newly, welcome home
--I think we will simply muddle through until we don't
Me too. Question is when is "until we don't".
I'm on record here more than once since 2009 (and before on ninjas) that I see it all coming unraveled ca 2015-17. Not that I anticipate it with relish. Like you, I have been taking concrete actions as best I can define what might be a practial defense plan.

Good discussion yesterday/today, guys. You both make a lot of good points. Personally, I think we will simply muddle through until we don't. What I don't see happening is a new era of prosperity right around the corner. An Argentine-style inflation? Maybe, maybe not. A Greek-style austerity program? Doubtful, Americans are not accustomed to doing without even when they have no money, but we will certainly have to adjust to making do with less IMO. I don't see America going down in flames, but neither do I see it rising like the Phoenix from the ashes of the current miasma. What I find most scary is the number of regimes around the world that would love to bring America down even if it means hurting themselves in the process, regimes that are likely to pounce at the moment the country is most vulnerable. I suspect a lot of foreign influence in much of the disinformation I see on the web geared towards inciting a class war, and/or pitting the average American against his government. So many Americans do not keep themselves informed, that I fear the results of this negative influence as being most dangerous to the stability of our country.
Interesting times we live in. I suspect people felt in the 1930's much as we do now, with great fear for the future of the country. It wasn't the end of America then, and it likely won't be this time, either, though for sure, no one remains Top Nation forever, and we may have to step down a notch much as England had to do as America ascended to its fullest potential.
But Time alone can tell this tale. . .
