Good discussion yesterday/today, guys. You both make a lot of good points. Personally, I think we will simply muddle through until we don't. What I don't see happening is a new era of prosperity right around the corner. An Argentine-style inflation? Maybe, maybe not. A Greek-style austerity program? Doubtful, Americans are not accustomed to doing without even when they have no money, but we will certainly have to adjust to making do with less IMO. I don't see America going down in flames, but neither do I see it rising like the Phoenix from the ashes of the current miasma. What I find most scary is the number of regimes around the world that would love to bring America down even if it means hurting themselves in the process, regimes that are likely to pounce at the moment the country is most vulnerable. I suspect a lot of foreign influence in much of the disinformation I see on the web geared towards inciting a class war, and/or pitting the average American against his government. So many Americans do not keep themselves informed, that I fear the results of this negative influence as being most dangerous to the stability of our country.

Interesting times we live in. I suspect people felt in the 1930's much as we do now, with great fear for the future of the country. It wasn't the end of America then, and it likely won't be this time, either, though for sure, no one remains Top Nation forever, and we may have to step down a notch much as England had to do as America ascended to its fullest potential.

But Time alone can tell this tale. . .
