Pattern recognition - Before making any trade, recurring stock-trading patterns are reviewed.
Top down trading - Before making any trade, the client must first analyze the following: the market, and current market direction, the industry group and direction of industry group and finally, stock prices which includes a comparison of two companies in the same industry group, such as Ford and General Motors.
Follow certain money management rules - These money management rules are related to percentage of stock acquired at particular times, maintaining certain cash reserves, holding on to stocks with rising values until there is a reason to sell and not reinvesting all trading profits in the market.

SMKT's founder, Richard Smitten, author of two best-selling books on Livermore, has researched and catalogued Livermore's uncanny stock-picking techniques. He has supplemented the original Livermore system with interviews with Livermore's family and with analysis using the enormous database and analytical capacities available through today's computer technology.
The Jesse Livermore system is currently being software-encrypted as a proprietary system by Highpoint.com, a consulting software code-writing firm for SMKT.
