I recently rewatched "Knives Out." Enjoyed it both times.
Ages ago, I saw Sleuth as a play with two others who'd seen it before. The theatre lobby displayed bios along with photos of the five actors in the play. When I commented that that seemed like a small cast, my companions merely grunted in acknowledgment.
Meaning annotated movies? Ala an annotated Shakespeare, or James Joyce Ulysses, where many people, especially new readers, would be lost without translation?
If there is not already a malady named for your affliction, you are in your rights to name it after yourself. We'll call it swampfoot.
I want to be able to see things again, but torturous , as envy all the people who like opera, a pleasure my nature does not allow me to benefit from.
I think it was the movie Clue, that depending on where you saw it, had alternate endings. You should see that 3 times. Of course all 3 were awful.
As for me, I can watch Forrest Gump again and again, as well as some other movies. Guess I'm just simple that way.
Somewhere I read that if a movie needs narration, the director has done a bad job of portraying the information. Or maybe it's the writer.
How about this, a good movie is like a good restaurant where you go back to re-order the same thing you had last time because it was so good.
No, on your first part, the narration is not to explain a movie, it is to make comments on a scale of taste that can be on the mark or stunningly outrageous..... and recommended only for people who are too familiar with the contents of the movie or show. and by watching it "clean" had become perhaps bored ( to death like me) to watch it again, unless promised with a new version , which never happens.....Uh like in Casablanca, I sometimes lie to wife and say, "look this is a new version and Bogart will go with Elsa back to USA, deserting her husband.
I did not watch it, but I getcha, as I was so pissed at what they did with the Mission Impossible movies. The TV show was about a team working incredibly intricately. Then they make a movie, bring in a whole new character played by Tom Cruise and basically it's a Tom Cruise movie with a familiar title, but nothing like the original. False advertising is what I call it....maybe I'm a curmudgeon too.
Hmmmmm, so, what I believe you are saying is....you're a curmudgeon who wants subtitles in movies where the inner thoughts of the movie will be explained to you, so you don't have to make the effort?
Where's the fun in that?? Much of what makes some movies great is the figuring out the hidden gems that only some may catch.
As for watching the same movie over again, think of it like hanging out with a good friend who often times tells the same story over again, but you enjoy his company nonetheless.
Ok I saw the first episode of Perry Mason,...... too dark, stagy and Perry Mason is not even a lawyer here,.... story is so contrived, not worthy of a serious review.. Did not know it until end, but the character I liked most in The White Shadow "Salami" directed this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Van_Patten
Yes he was worthy of great direction in The Sopranos and the rest of top HBO.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_White_Shadow_(TV_series)
Thing is I actually met him by chance and we were paddle ball mates for a spell before ands while he was studying for the director's test,..... heard from people out there (L.A.) who say he is top shelf character wise...sorry to see him involved in this poor quality production project.
Unlike most folks, I do not like so many popularly watched shows as them all. Unfortunately, for me there are few must watch episodes (a la The Sopranos), or frequent new classics in any genre, that accord with my tastes. Bottom line, have just a limited crew or posse of classic movies or shows I can watch maybe as often as once a year. Use to be a time I could never re-watch a show I saw unless 15 years passed and I forgot so much of it, but each year less stuff I value to see.
Anyway I have a solution worth billions and wish I had an extra billion to test this idea. Get to that in a minute.
Also, just to be clear, I find it harder and harder to watch any movie or play in a live audience as I detest the suspected inappropriate laughing or comments distracting me from a "pure" showing. On first viewing I need to watch my stuff clean in a hermetically sealed setting........ yet my wife can watch movies over and over again, almost weekly the same material, enjoying saying some of the lines before it is uttered. And I may get sucked into watching this rehashed stuff from time to time, and entertain myself by yelling out comments realizing it probably cannot spoil the necessary silence a first viewing may require for my wife. Now my comments conform to my own taste or idiosyncrasies.
So this big idea is that all that raw content which grows stale can all be refreshed with having various skilled personalities vie to have their comments narrated in sync with every movie or original material ever made ( this occurs in documentaries). There are so many publicly known notables I would be curious enough to watch in a new subverted reconfiguration of a media event again, just to hear their comments of what they notice which I perhaps missed to understand , appreciate or find amusing, all because the intended elements in the movie may almost be beside the point, as even a misinterpretation could be worthy of an interesting thought.
Got to look for a billionaire to line up with this idea.
The King of Staten Island.
Although I have never been a huge Pete Davidson fan I thought he was pretty good in this. Marisa Tomei was also good.
I would give it a 4.2 out of 5
"Best thing I ever saw, was a man who loved his wife" - Paul McCartney
I demand you to destroy it immediately! It offends me.
I have a Joe Camel Mug given out from McDonalds's for kid's I am saving for big time cash in,

And don't you dare watch this video
Thank god Bonanza which had 3 white sons and a white pop, paid their dues offering glimpses of Hop-Sing's rebellious servility.
Already lost F Troop! What's left to watch?
Tip: Many movies and TV content soon to be banned because they are not inclusive....so see your favs now before the prohibition.
Anyone watch the show on REEL TV on the making of the Godfather movies? Interesting stuff.
Gary Marshall great (also that recap special). Jerry Stiller missed as well,as he use to eat in my restaurant, and was up to conversing. See Jackie Mason all the time, he looks like a ghost, and by the way I think he gave Ed Sullivan the finger in a joking display which triggered years of restarting his career, and his reverberating denial..
But to change subject as indicate how my taste may run, I just saw Moring Comes Electra and cleverly is a litmus test for film critic street cred, as I believe only an autistic could like that movie,.......... as it turned all its actors into stone and that includes Kirk Douglas Rosalind Russell and Michael Redgrave, all forced to adopt to the rules of some Greek tragedy peeled off from actual empathetic rational, within in a chorus of annoying moaning.
Yes, and we agree...(how scary is that?!)
Did you ever watch Episodes with Matt LeBlanc?
Funny stuff
Well I have jumped many a shark.
The thing is....I don’t remember what you look like.
Or maybe subconsciously I do?
ROTFL! That's funny. I dunno why. Back in the day, some people would tell me I looked like him, but I didn't see it. I also got Jerry Seinfeld and Parker Stevenson.
I thought it was great. The weird thing about it is that every time I saw Fonzie, I thought of you.
Why is that?
I sobbed at the end but then again it doesn’t take much to make me weepy these days.
I did and enjoyed it.
Did you watch the Gary Marshall special?
Anyone here watching The Last Dance on ESPN?
10 part documentary about Michael Jordan and the Bulls. Some great stuff and I can't believe they have some of the video footage they do.
the image is gone, poof
Umm, just curious if we can start guessing again? Or are we waiting for the horde to show up still? :)
So, did anyone else here watch Dispatches from Elsewhere? Final episode was Sunday and sadly, it turned into Twin Peaks meets Alice in Wonderland.
The handful of us? Lol
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
Not a good look for Admin Meghan. You're not playing by the rules.
Name one and only one so others can play:)
It’s been a few a years since I’ve watched it, but I want to say you’re right.
Just finished watching the 10 part series Manhunt on OnDemand.
Very interesting and a bit different (but not a whole lot) from the movie.
It's about Richard Jewell. However, he's really only the first 5 episodes. Then it gets into the hunt for Eric Rudolph.
I'd definitely recommend it for some very good binge TV watching.
Trying to avoid buying Netflix so I guess our next move will be to watch the Amazon Prime stuff. The Spousal_unit is fighting me over Netflix. Says we have too many other things to watch. I must admit I'm far behind on some other saved shows.
Wasn't Galavant a musical?
I adore Randy Rainbow! He’s so darn clever!
Nightmare Before Christmas
I haven’t gotten into the second season yet but the first season was fun. The previews to the second season remind me of that show “Galavant” that only ran for a couple of seasons a few years back.
I’m done.
My nerves are totally shot right now so I am not going to raise my blood pressure arguing with you.

A board to review, talk about, recommend your favorite movies, tv shows - reality and otherwise, actors, music, books, food, anything you feel like chatting about.
We like to use the pickle system around here, but feel free to rate as you see fit.
If you like the system, it goes as such
0 - 1....you would probably want to recommend to derf
1.01 - 2....better wait for HBO
2.01 - 3....worth a rental, maybe even a trip to the picture show
3.01 - 3.99....pretty much a must see, either in the theater or DVD.
4....WOW
