Basically MVPI is has a suit against Google for patent enfringement. MVPI has patents on it's Visual Real Estate from 2004 & Google has the same thing started in 2007. A billionaire, Dr. Philip Frost has bought 10% of MPVI due to this lawsuit.
What was explained on the DVD,for this MVPI
Just got a DVD on this stock in the mail. Third party paid $100,000.00. Will look into all the claims they made.
A decade is a very long time.
Warren Buffett advises buying stocks for a lifetime but, like most preachers, Buffett doesn't take his own advice.
Best, Terry
I guess it depends how one defines "short term".
For me, the holding period for MVPI will most likely relate to the outcome of Visual Real Estate, Inc. vs Google, Inc. If successful, I will most likely cash out and put the proceeds in some other "event driven" investment.
On the flip side, there are only a couple investments that I have owned for a decade or more like ENR, which was spun off from Ralston Purina in April 2000. My plan is to have one share BRK/A or many BRK/B's left to MEI. I do have a very small number and even fewer dollars sunk into firms that went bankrupt or the SEC revoked in my accounts.
Thank you, Enterprising Investor.
I concur with everything you said but would note that R&D stocks can be in pre-operation status for decades. Follow-on patents and entirely new directions of research allow biotech investors to continue on track, should they desire, long after the original patents expired.
Untold billions have been spent, made and lost on various manifestations of antisense in the many decades since its invention by Prof. James Summerton. Antisense has more claimed fathers than Anna Nicole Smith's baby had but the true parents blamed it on others. The professor blamed some ladies writing in a Siberian science journal but they naturally denied it.
Just a footnote.
Best, Terry
Someone had a big chunk of shares to sell.
I reviewed the trades yesterday. The reason why the price fell so hard so fast was due to a lack of bids on the way down. I do not have a position. Why? I was waiting for the price to decline! And I missed the chance to pay five or six cents per share. The price later recovered. Pricing is volatile this morning, but volume is not very active.
In the short term, MVPI should be viewed more like a contingent value right (CVR) than an operating business. There is huge upside based on the patent infringement case against Google.
However, it will take time. I am not talking months, but potentially years.
If Google is found guilty, they will most likely appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals and then, if necessary, petition for certiorari asking the Supreme Court to review the matter.
If I was the owner-manager of Google, I would attempt to settle before going to trial. Anyone who has ever watched Shark Tank has seen offers for patent licensing. However, managers of large companies get to play with shareholder money. Executives do not want to be found quilty of anything and will spends large amount of money to defend themselves, I mean, the company. And the lawyers reap the benefits.
If you are a buyer at these prices, you must be prepared to average down and wait.
Enterprising Investor,
I am looking for opinion rather than investment advice.
Do you have any thoughts that Rector's supposed dumping of shares and any associated paper likely provides an immediate investment opportunity or just more falling knives?
I am fully aware of Bernard Baruch's advice that only liars buy at bottoms but that doesn't keep this idiot from trying.
Just asking.
Best, Terry
Rector owned 10,000 Series D Convertible Preferred Stock and held options to purchase 1 million shares of Common Stock.
The options vested in 12 equal monthly installments beginning on March 7, 2014 provided that Mr. Rector remains continuously engaged as a director or officer of the Issuer through the applicable vesting date.

Because that is what they do. They usually have 30 to 60 days to dump oringial shares. Here is a typical example

How do u know
PennysRus,
There is a mail boat excursion that takes on passengers in the Adirondacks on a lake just above Old Forge, NY. The boat gives out a short blast from its whistle as it nears a multi-million dollar cabin so that rich folks are notified they must interrupt their rest and relaxation to get their mail. In one nice touch, the mailman has a dog biscuit for the omnipresent dogs. Everybody waves, the dogs wag their tails and the mail goes through no matter the ripples and breezes, fog and rain until winter arrives.
In that idyllic setting, some heavily forested land along the lake to the west stretches mostly undeveloped off to the horizon owned by the estate of the man who "helped Thomas Edison with his light bulb" back when dabbled in a bit of real estate as well as building his own spacious cabin the woods.
I tried to get the name but I suspect it was the actual inventor of the light bulb, Joseph Swan, that got a piece of the action only by suing the ruthless businessman and inventor in his own right who monopolized the light bulb.
For me it was a nice reminder that once invention and inventors occupied a hallowed place in America rather than being labeled despised trolls and America thus became the most powerful industrial engine that ever existed. Today monopolists that were once known as robber barons are the only "inventors" who get respect since they and their bankers own the government that once belonged to the people - to a degree - and America's industrial power is in steep decline.
I frankly don't believe in the myth of patent trolls. Even the fabled patent on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich by Smucker's had some raison d'etre though the patent protection was later revoked because of all the dreadfully crude laughter.
Undoubtedly there are numerous patents on trivialities and confidence men like the incredible Will Smith and his Poison Pen Gang of whom it was said giving Will Smith a credit card was like giving a terrorist an atom bomb.
But there will be no more golden eggs if you butcher the goose. The evidence is plain enough.
All JMO.
Best, Terry
Plfm,
If there is one thing lawyers are very good at and are true and honest in their efforts, it is delay.
An 80-year-old woman appeared before the New Jersey Supreme Court for the last time and asked for the last time as her circumstances had been reduced from wealth to total destitution over decades for herself and her son by the courts.
The court decided that the matter of the execution of "the Fiend of the Century" was best left to history and so it was.
The case against the "fiend" was so bad and so manipulated that a young J. Edgar Hoover with his nascent FBI put as much distance as he could between himself and the case. Today the FBI presents the the old evidence, including such ludicrous nonsense as a key eyewitness who was legally blind, as proof justice was done.
IMHO the court will act when it will should it decide to act at all. I expect years will fly by before there is any conclusion to MVPI's quest.
Best, Terry
Terry, DLAPiper does not take on any non practicing entity's so this is actually not a "patent troll" deal. They actually look to monotize university patents that never became businesses as well.
thank you for your insight, might we worth a small risk, what is the time frame before courts decesion?
Plfm,
I am far from any kind of expert on this stock but maybe I can answer some of your questions:
1. The past price and current price are of two very different companies. There is nothing left of the old gold prospector that sold for up to $8 beyond the corporate shell.
2. The company is now a non-operating patent troll in the words of your fine president and congressional hac - er, statesmen and judges. There remains some interference from that old rag, The Constitution, that nobody much cares about anymore but it does provide some hope for those who think inventors might deserve some reward as the founders thought. Mighty monopolists use patents as a sword and shield but disregard them altogether when dealing with peasants since they own the politicians and judges.
3. How did Microsoft manage to glom onto a ton of intellectual property from work done by others and defend it even against Steve Jobs' Apple? You will have to ask somebody else for the gory details. All I know is that Bill Gates doing it all in his families garage is myth. Windows was originally a real operating system - DOS [Disk Operating System] - originated by Bell Labs, if a foggy, failing memory serves one last time.
Jobs was beaten in court while small fry were either ignored or bought out.
Jury - Twelve people who decide which side has the better lawyers
Apparently Gates knew how to select crackerjack lawyers. Whether he was much of a programmer is unknown to me and meaningless in any case.
4. Vringo [VRNG] is the current hapless ant trying to get a bite out of the reigning bull elephant, Google. VRNG seemed smushed just a few days ago when two appellate judges, out of three, who probably never wrote a line of code thought Vringo's software was obvious and the patents worthless despite the millions spent previously on juries and hearings and all that. A recent decision by the Supreme Court in another case that says that appellate judges should listen up when knowledgeable people speak has given a bit of life to what appeared a corpse but needs another lifetime of expenses and effort for an uncertain result.
5. MVPI has just begun its trek.
Best I can do, friend.
Terry
i saw that too, looks interesting. I also see a pr has a one year target of $1.67 how do they get that number? I think if they can win the lawsuit against GOOGLE you many have something. but thats a big if...google could outright buy them out with so little os shares out there if they desire. My question is why did the stock go down from $8.00 to 13 cents? looks interesting though.
Yes indeed, likwit, the screaming pierces one's eardrums and yet there is that connection to Philip Frost that seems factual.
This is worse than getting hate mail from Pope Francis and having it verified as legit.
The small edge with invisible control seems to be MO for Frost.
It is very rare I ever post on a message board of a stock in which I have no stake but this is one of the most confusing conundrums I have ever encountered.
Why would Frost go "trolling," if indeed he did?
That is one confusing riddle that may have a logical answer.
Some of Frost's biotech pursuits seem to go beyond cutting edge and even science fiction to dreamscape. A very nice lady once told me she belonged to 5 clubs that believed extraterrestrials lived among us but two of the clubs were "way out there." I had to bite my tongue to keep from asking the obvious question about how two oif the clubs could be plumb weird but, as I said, she was a very nice lady and seemed far more sane than most of us. Frost might qualify the lady's way out there people.
Frost lives in a dog eat dog world where honesty is the most debilitating of all vices. It is ironic that the former California Gold hearkens back to a time sheriffs, prosecutors and judges were notorious for being in cahoots with rapacious business monopolies stealing mining claims. Patents have become the new looting ground for thieves stealing from the poor while they are useful for forming an alligator-filled moat for the impregnable castle of monopolists. Google has replaced Microsoft as Numero Uno in the gamey business.
Hardly be surprising if Frost wants to throw a few cannonballs inside the castle walls.
All JMO.
The crude, high-pressure sales job promoting MVPI scares the bejesus out of me. I will more than likely continue to cheer from the sideline though I reserve the right to change my mind on a whim at any time.
Best, Terry
Looks like whom ever made that pop up DUMPED shares. lmao
Promotional video popped up when I logged into iHub. Looks like this should start generating some serious interest in the next few months

Met the CEO, solid people behind the company. Real lawsuit real damages
hello mvpi investors, ive been looking at this issue based upon a recommendation. very interesting to say the least. I see this thing was as high as 8.00 and they had an 100-1 reverse split. what happened? also the lawsuit against google is interesting to say the least but that could take years before resolve unless google pays up..david vs goliath.... I also see that a billionarie investor may be involved, but when you have billions its pocket change. no position yet but doing some dd...thank you

It wouldn't really be illegal at all imo. It's his invention at the EOD, and he could do with it whatever he wants. Thats the beauty about living in America, pretty much the freedom to do whatever you want with your own stuff. Do not take my advice as a for sure thing, hence why I asked anyone to point me in the direction of some good DD on the company i.e. who owns the invention, hows it being infringed upon, etc etc.
Would or wouldn't that be illegal?
Thanks for the update. There remain quite a few "what ifs" here.
Anyone have some good/reliable DD on the board I can be pointed to? This thing will be one of the hottest stocks in the market if they are indeed being infringed upon by GOOG. I mean that would put this PPS in dollar land easily. Thing about it, imo, is GOOG is probably the most powerful company in the US and beating them in court is like beating floyd mayweather in the ring. You might have a great argument, look like your going to win, but somehow and someway he always comes out on top. Even if the decision should have went to the opponent, it seems that he sneaks his way to victory. We all know GOOG is powerful enough to pay off insiders on any case they are dealing with, including the insiders of MVPI who could drop the lawsuit in court while they get cashed out privately and we would not see a dime as investors.
tia for any reliable DD because I might be willing to put a few grand in here to see what happens. Even though I know I would be betting on "david vs goliath" so to speak
If I remember CLGL was 5% owned by Barry Honig a few years ago and now Dr Frost steps in so if history repeats its self. They see something worth while here. But also those two could by crap and the herd will jump in so you never know. Their names carry a lot of weight. Any other billionaires in on it?
The company's investor presentation is on the sec website. In addition to the Google lawsuit they are also partnering with universities to commercialize academic inventions. You have to a look at this company like a call option. This investment could pay off even if the lawsuit doesn't go all the way to trial. If it's successful defending googles IPR our trial at the PTAB the company could end up settling the suit for multiples of its current market cap. Look at virnetx. It recently settled its suit with msft for 24 mill which caused its market cap to spike by roughly twice that amount.
I'm probably like some of you. I never would have seen anything concerning MVPI had it not been for the spam ads all over IHUB. So I bit the bullet and spent some time doing a little research. I need the board's help getting a few things straight. MVPI has a bunch of patents, but they aren't being utilized to create revenues at this time....right or wrong? The short/intermediate term...and possibly long term best prospects depend on winning a patent infringement suit against Google.....right or wrong? I am looking for tangible assets and a business plan that would point to ongoing revenue streams. What have I missed here? I guess it's a little tough to get excited about a tiny organization trying to stand on the foot of one of the big guys like Google. What is really here besides the hype of possibly winning a lawsuit? Pertinent, business oriented answers are appreciated.
Ricky: Check my posting history, you'll find what your looking for there. The KEY is to recognize the one referenced. I'm not posting there this month but I'll be back.
No more holding a diluting machine for me. I've learned, the hard way.
The KEY is to keep hunting and never give up. You'll like what you find.
I will be keeping my eyes on this one though. My guess is in two years it'll be sub-penny, then I may pick some up just for shits and giggles.
lns
All valad points. The timeframe of the lawsuit is indeed a HUGE concern... no one wants to hold dead pennies long term...
On a higher note; know of any good CURRENT plays??
So what? Google pays/settles or even buys out? Suits filed against Google are numerous. Law firms who understand patent law/infringement know if they will have a reasonable desired outcome and work on contingency. But Google on the other side of this will play dumb as a fox if accusations are actually validated in a attempt to wear out their opponent. Who knows how strong these patents are?
Ricky: And that sucks but it's a patent play w/, let's face it, "death spiral financing" on the likes of NE*M.
The lawsuit is going to drag on for a while...a good while...like, maybe years. I've seen it before many times.
Heed the warning:
I'm on the same boat
Someone obviously selling into the promotion. It is a great presentation. Too bad it required a PROMO to get buyers interested.
I will be watching this one for more news on the GOOGLE lawsuit. Just not buying into this pump
The blocks on the sell.
Heard it from someone close to them. Maybe it was apple might have been both.. I'll look into
This law firm has beat google before
The case is currently stayed pending review at the PTAB. A decision to review or not should be issued by mid February.
The markman hearing date was terminated back in September:
ORDER granting 45 F Stipulated Motion to Stay. The case is stayed until further order of the Court. The Clerk should terminate all pending motions and deadlines and administratively close the case. The parties shall promptly notify the Court of the issuance of any decision by the Patent and Trial Appeal Board. By the earlier of 3/23/2015 or thirty days from the last-issued order on institution, the parties shall meet and confer and shall file the joint notice specified in this Order. Signed by Judge Timothy J. Corrigan on 9/4/2014. (BJB)
Google will higher the best lawyers and win. Tmob infringed on Calypso Wireless and look what happened. Tmob hired the 2013 IP MVP lawyer Josh Krevitt and it was over. Google will simply throw as much $ as need to win.
VRNG v GOOG was different. VRNG was just a straight non-practicing entity. They were Patent Trolls. MVPI is an actual company that operated and executed its patents until it was infringed upon to the point of being forced to close the project down.
