I guess it depends how one defines "short term".
For me, the holding period for MVPI will most likely relate to the outcome of Visual Real Estate, Inc. vs Google, Inc. If successful, I will most likely cash out and put the proceeds in some other "event driven" investment.
On the flip side, there are only a couple investments that I have owned for a decade or more like ENR, which was spun off from Ralston Purina in April 2000. My plan is to have one share BRK/A or many BRK/B's left to MEI. I do have a very small number and even fewer dollars sunk into firms that went bankrupt or the SEC revoked in my accounts.
