Montas isn't very good. I think we found a guy I might prefer megill over. LOL.
Yes it is. I would like him in a ny mets uniform although admittingly my second choice to flaherty.
How good has Snell been lately? After that terrible start, everyone was patting each other on the back, happy their team didn't sign the guy. Monty too. Now the phones are ringing....not so much for Monty, lol.
And the Crew adds Montas and his + 5 ERA.
That's how you win a pennant!
Snell looks like Cy Snell again---15 K's in 6 innings is outrageous
To be fair snell and flaherty are on the top of my list. but fedde was on it.
The White Sox, Cardinals and Dodgers reached a three-team, eight-player trade Monday that saw St. Louis land starting pitcher Erick Fedde and outfielder Tommy Pham, and Los Angeles get super-utility man Tommy Edman and reliever Michael Kopech.
Three former Dodgers infield prospects -- Miguel Vargas, Alexander Albertus and Jeral Perez -- are headed to the White Sox along with a player to be named later or cash.
It would be nice if the mets would grab a starting pitcher. They need one, pretty much anyone is an upgrade over megill and if anyone gets hurt in the rotation than what, you have no depth right now.
Astros grab Yusei Kikuchi from the Jays
Chisholm starts a 5-4-3 DP in the 1st playing 3B tonite----then takes Wheeler deep to LF in the 2nd---Judge and Rice also take Wheeler deep----nice start
Yankees apparently in talks for Flaherty, will deal cortes if deal is done. Can't say I'm happy about this as Flaherty was my top pitching choice for the mets, they better get snell if they don't get flaherty. because this rotation has no depth now, and megill stinks. It is obvious to me, but never them for some reason.
Better in a mets uniform.
well you have three good players in Soto, Judge, and Cole. I doubt Soto comes back next year as he would look good in a Phillies Uniform
Yankees have gotten completely worse that last several years under Cashman, Boone and Blake. I really don't expect anything earth shattering under them and hopefully they'll be gone next year.
Go Orioles and Phillies.
Well we got another starting pitcher beside Paxton (who is terrible) from the Pirates - Quinn Priester of the 5.04 ERA Priester's. We give up our #6 prospect Nick Yorke.
Yankees need a new manager. Apparently no one is interested in a trade.
I believe you are too young along with the Bobbsey twins to understand respect for ball players. But that is just me and I am too old to change at this point.
I met Mantle and Ford several times at the twilight of their careers. I would never insult them by saying they were washed up.
I also got Seaver's autograph after the 1969 WS. Sadly he died too soon. But that is respect which you're too young to understand and I can't help you in that regard.
Yeah DJ sucks right now but I'll leave it up to you and the twins to kick him when he's down. That's now how the game is played if you're a fan.
Last two years and this makes three we were in the same boat and kept valuable tradable pieces getting nothing. Tampa knows how to do it at the trade deadline. Just because we are a big market team doesn't mean we have to act like it - ha
I agree with you but doubt any team starts trading away key pieces, 1 game or so out of the wc.
I don’t see us winning anything this year. Next year hopefully we get Story, Golito, and Whitlock back plus some free agents
Your pitching isn't very good. But why they kept pitching to judge is baffling to me. I'm stunned the sox are in this. But they are. But look around all of these have serious holes.
Red Sox should be sellers but they won’t. We need to much pitching which everyone wants
Royals add lorenzen from the rangers. So they add some pitching to your rotation.
I like DJ as a player. I can like a player and think he is washed up. Trust me at some point I will say that about Aaron judge. I will say that about pete Alonso. I will even say that about Juan soto. It is not a matter of liking/disliking a player at some point every players ability significantly decline to the point where they hurt the team at some point, whether it is due to injuries that cut down a career or because of age, that really doesn't matter, the end result is there is no more in the tank. And that is my opinion of DJ. Now am I right the numbers say I am, doesn't mean I am. But I have an opinion on the royals, the yankees, the pirates, the mets. you got this idea that that because your not a fan of a certain teams mean you don't have opinion on others team, other team moves, and other team's player. And you can have a opinion about all these things in reality, and still have your main focus on the team you root for.
Who by the way needs to get a starter and a solid bullpen arm. The gm works is far from done in my opinion.
Agreed. But when you give up all these players for him, you better keep him. it is really that simple.
Hal does not have Cohen money.
Though most of Chisholm’s career has been spent in the leadoff spot (192 starts in 403 games), Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that he envisions using Chisholm in the middle of the batting order, noting that he has seen positive signs from Alex Verdugo and Torres at the top of the lineup in recent games.

As far as DJ is concerned I heard the same thing about Bret Gardner from the Bobbsey Twins.

I like DJ and you don't. I am a Yankee fan and you're not. The Mutts lost again last night. Keep up the good work.
The NL Central has been playing down to it's reputation. As bad as the Brewers looked against Miami, St Louis had to go 10 innings to salvage a win at home in their series against the Nats.
Newsflash the division is simply terrible. I don't like the cards (Nothing really good about them), I don't like the pirates (They can't hit), as much as I expect the reds to fire guess what they haven't and the brewers are not very good either (they had holes to begin with and yelich gone that makes them worse). And for some reason the cubs who are not very good are adding at the deadline, when they should be subtracting.
The mets did look terrible today. Peterson really had one bad inning where he fell behind and left pitches in bad places and matt olsen who owns him with homer took him deep. As for stanek that was alarming, maybe the mariners were sick of looking at him after his last 3 appearence where he stunk followed by his 1rst as a met. he has good stuff, but he got hammered today. too early to judge but the early returns are terrible. As for diekman, I continue to say he is a walk and a homer waiting to happen how he struck out judge this past week I will never know. he stinks. The bullpen is very simple.
The trusted guys
diaz- athough he has been shakey, he has been better lately and maybe it was unrealistic to expect diaz to be back to 2022 diaz. I did see some 99 mph pitches the other day so velocity is climbing from the 95-96 we seen earlier in the year at least.
Butto- This guy can pitch, truthfully if he was a starter I think he would be the 2nd or 3rd best pitcher on the team. But they cannot move him out of this bullpen where he has been phenominal.
Maton- has been good since he come over it is really that simple.
The Unknowns
Alex Young- has come up here and all he has done is get outs. now will that continue. I have no clue. But I can't say he is hopeless when he has gotten outs without runs scoring.
Danny Young- Has gotten some outs as well. Don't know if I trust him, but I will say he hasn't been bad.
On Watch
Ryne Stanek- it's his first time, normally I would throw it out, but he stunk the last three times in a mariner uniform he went out there as well, his stuff look fine in terms of velocity today. But that didn't stop atlanta, from trying to hit balls to the moon.
Terrible and Must go
Jake Diekman-He is not very good and I'm being nice. How he struck Aaron Judge out this week is still and unexplained mystery to me.
Adam Ottovino- He is washed like DJ (Problem is he was never anywhere near as good as DJ even at his best, and now his stuff has backed up. And lefties give him problems, and when people get on they steal a ton off him as well. he must go.
The IL Guy
Dedniel Nunez- He has been the most consistent releiver in a really bad pen. he has been good all year. So losing him was a big injury. Should come back about two weeks or less so that will help, because I trust him.
Sean Reid Foley- He was having a good year, before he got hurt. Don't know if I trust him, but he wasn't terrible. Should be back less than a week.
Reid Garrett- Should be coming back in 10-14 days. Has good stuff but can sometime lose the plate. Was very successful early than came back to earth. truthfully don't know what to expect here when he does resurface.
Overall this is a bad bullpen adding Maton and Putting Butto in the bullpen has helped. When Nunez was elevated to a more meaningful role that also helped, but now is down with the injury. Yes the mets could use a 8th inning guy right now. Of course I would love tanner scott, but I will settle for chad green to fill that role. As loog as Jack flaherty is coming from detroit. They desparately now need to get a guy who can start a game in the wc round. Plus they need depth. megill isn't very good, adn if another starter get hurts have no clue where they are going for a starter.
Overall people react to one bad game. Over a course of 162 even if you are great you are gonna have a bunch of games your just uncompetitive.
As for the offense they were hot from the end of may to the all star break, they were gonna cool down at some point. even the best offense in the league doesn't average 6.5 runs a game, which is what they were doing during that stretch. And Nimmo was red hot during the run. Yes he has been ice cold since returning from the break. Thing is coming into today Nimmo was hitting 319 with RISP, so he has ton of cluth hits for them, what ishappening now is what we call a market correction. He will pick it up again he is too good of hitter. And generally with guys on base there are few mets I want up there more with runner on than Nimmo in my opinion, because most of the times I feel he will give you a quality at bat. But admittingly right now he has been ice cold since the break in my opinion.
That is a huge plus, Williams returning to Milwaukee's bullpen.
The NL Central has been playing down to it's reputation. As bad as the Brewers looked against Miami, St Louis had to go 10 innings to salvage a win at home in their series against the Nats.
Mets looked terrible today. I can't remember the last time Nimmo got a clutch knock. It's hilarious as well to see Gamel in your line-up. Stanek gets crushed, your bullpen is sketchy, but at least you've got that 4th outfielder position triple-covered, lol.
JD didn't leave a mark on anything---including a baseball
To think JD Davis was the cleanup hitter just a few games ago.

Stanek, if the results of today are any indication. we may of given up too much. Geez he will fit right in with some of the cast of characters coming out of the pen. Obvious can't judge by 1 time. But he also has given up runs the last 3 appearences before as well for seattle.
what i'm really concerned is peterson who was seen shaking his hand or arm, Hopefully nothing but I didn't like seeing that can't lose a 3rd sp in a week. They need 1 allready lose peterson you need 2. Shaking my head.
wasn't long ago the Yankee starters had headlines like this:
All five of the Yankees' current starters have ERAs under 3.30 over at least 55 innings pitched
The Yankees are also the only team in the Majors this season to have five pitchers who have made at least 10 starts with a 3.30 ERA or below: Gil (1.99), Clarke Schmidt (2.52), Stroman (2.76), Rodón (2.95) and Cortes (3.30)
Yankees set a major league record with their starters going 15 straight games where they have tossed at least five innings and allowed two runs or fewer, the longest such streak since the mound moved to current its distance in 1893, per Elias Sports Bureau research.
since the start of the swoon on June 15 when the Yankee record was 50-22, their record is 11-23...this graphic is from last night's game:
Good news is devin williams was reinistated from the IL so that should help the bullpen a ton if he is devin williams we normally see.
Padres get a solid reliever in Adam from TB. Another reliever off the market.
Boston has showed to take total disrgard to the mets blueprint. why they keep pitching to judge again and again is baffling to me.
Soto is one of the 5 best players in baseball, and it is gonna cost alot more than 500 Million. I think it is gonna be 700 million when all said and done.
You won't get any arguement me on cashman when it comes to pitching. he makes alot of mistakes in my opinion.
well a calf strain if it is severe is 8-10 weeks. Now if senga could ever be a fast healer and get back in 8 maybe he could be ready for the playoffs if the mets make it. But time will tell. They can't count on him, they need another starter and at least 1 more reliever the gm still has work to do in my opinion.
You forget I have seen chisholm a ton. The mets play the marlins alot, I believe, he is the type of player who will play better when there are people in the stands that care, versus the usual archery practice they see at marlins games. I also know that miami is a tough place to play for a hitter, mets lineup suddenly couldn't hit there either this last series for the most part, and that lineup is really good.
As for that post I said it is early. I was reacting to how terribly they started. Lets face it just about everybody wrote this team off in the beginning of the season and for good reason they were 11 games under .500, and we had a pitcher throwing his gloves into the stands. And the mets were on some sought of mission to set a record for blowing the most 9th inning leads in the month of may I have ever seen.
I also said this in the same post.
I get Lindor and Nimmo will hit
So it is not like I said they weren't gonna hit. I truely was worried about them getting double digits under .500 and recovering as team. Heck I'm stunned they recovered from 11 games under, but that is credit to this manager who I happen to like. Admittingly had to overcome my negative take coming in because he was the yankees bench coach on one of the worst yankee teams i seen in the last 3 decades. But he is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better then boone. it is not even close.
So now you want to break down his home and away stats.
And in what world anyone who has run into me, doesn't think I don't break down every stat. I mean it is painfully obvious that I love statistics. Look at all the contest I have ran in the past and present. The things I keep track of. It is more obvious than saying DJ is washed up whether injuries or age don't care why. Sorry had to hit my quota today. LOL.
Now that the Yankees have shown they can score more than 2 runs a game their next 2 steps to recovery are to get their starters to go more than 4 innnings and have the bullpen pitch some scoreless outings.
I like the deal for Winker, Yes they gave up a pitcher with potential but he is 24 soon to be 25 and pitching to like a 4 era in double A at this point. Best case scenario he turns into a back end starter or a reliever. Those can be brought rather easily with the owners money.
JBJ will never see the mets roster that counts. he is not a 1/10 of the bat winker is. Winker has a 810 career ops, and a 370 obp career. That's good. Now I wouldn't use him against LH pitching, but the mets have a Need for a LH Quality hitter against righties. Not a need I would worry about if it was the other side of the platoon to give up a pitching prospect, but you see far more righties than lefties, and bader down over the last week, and marte having setback the manager has ran stewart out there 3-4 times in the last week, trust me that is 3-4 times too much, and he gets at least 1 key at bat every game. And fails everytime I think he is 8/69, that is a 116 BA mostly against righty pitching.
The mets don't have a LH bat of the bench that could get a hit. That is a big need at some point and right now winker is gonna start against RH pitching with marte down. Mets hit LH pitching alot better than RH pitching this season. And he counter balances that. They desparately needed a LH hitting OF in my opinion, that mashes RH Pitching.
Now you say come on you have lefties in the lineup. But Nimmo has reverse splits which baffles me time and time again when they bring in lefties aginst him. Lindor hits better against lefties, so does jd, so does vientos. even mcniel has hit lefties better. You will see a trend through the lineup, they litterally go nuts when you bring in lefty reliever. But they could use a little help against a righty, and to have no LH options off the bench that you can trust is a mistake.
I really like winker I think your underselling him he has a 374 obp this year which you make it sound like he is having a career 1/2 year but his career obp is 370. Furthermore He has a 390 obp against righties which is where I want him, and a 330 obp against a lefties. Now I don't want to use him against lefties, but stewart has litterally not gotten a hit against lefties all year. litterally he hasn't gotten 1 hit. This guy has 187 PA, that is alot of PA in big spots often late in games where he comes up empty, one of those best you can hope for is he walks, and now he is even starting to expand the zone lately and swing at non strikes, obviously that is not a positive for his results.
I think Winker is a 4th of so I don't disagree, but he is a starter when there is a right on the mound. and a quality starter, and that is exactly what the mets need in my opinion.
I've seen Soto play this year and I love the guy and he is definitely a fan favorite.
The problem is he is a rental right now at $30M and will probably cost $500M to keep him.
Look at the pitchers around the league that Cashman has given up on and traded away.
Laugh all you want but Monty has a WS ring.
Sonny Grey in St Louis.
Chad Green in Toronto
Why is Marinaccio still in triple A?
Why do pitchers go to Cole for help and Gil to Severino for advice?
But not to worry after years of incompetence by Cashman, Boone and Blake all 3 will be gone. Yankee fans deserve better then mediocrity.
Back to the Olympics for me.
Hard to see how that was a calf strain rather than something more serious.
LOL. So now you want to break down his home and away stats. And you want him batting lead off just because.
Here is your post from back in April when Lindor sucked.
https://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=174159529&txt2find=lindor
Mets just closed a deal for Winker. This is a classic Stearns signing. With JBJ in the fold, what's the next shrewd move?
I hope I'm wrong for the sake of Mets fans and Winker lights it up in Flushing, but this is a guy who has parlayed a half decent year into a something much more. How many 4th outfielders do the Mets need?

Well, beat the drum and hold the phone - the sun came out today!
We're born again, there's new grass on the field.
A-roundin' third, and headed for home, it's a brown-eyed handsome man;
Anyone can understand the way i feel.
Chorus:
Oh, put me in, coach - i'm ready to play today;
Put me in, coach - i'm ready to play today;
Look at me, i can be centerfield.
Well, i spent some time in the mudville nine, watchin' it from the bench;
You know i took some lumps when the mighty casey struck out.
So say hey willie, tell ty cobb and joe dimaggio;
Don't say "it ain't so", you know the time is now.
Chorus
Yeah! i got it, i got it!
Got a beat-up glove, a homemade bat, and brand-new pair of shoes;
You know i think it's time to give this game a ride.
Just to hit the ball and touch 'em all - a moment in the sun;
(pop) it's gone and you can tell that one goodbye!

Field of Dreams (1989)
"The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time.
This field, this game, is a part of our past, Ray.
It reminds us of all that once was good, and that could be again.
Oh people will come, Ray. People will most definitely come."
