What myth---the FACT that Stanton has batted 4th against starting LHP and 5th against starting RHP every game this season?---who is gonna be the SP is the one variable the manager can control--not who might come out of the BP---I give you credit for being the world's greatest Monday morning quarterback----LMAO
Boone finally woke up and batted Volpe at lead off and dropped Torres down to sixth.

You can put that myth to bed. Stanton batted cleanup last night and hit a homer off a RHP. EOS.
His real problem is he can't hit a breaking ball down and away to save his life.
Against lefties Aaron Boone also believes that Jon Berti (.211) is a better option then the switch hitting Oswaldo Cabrera (.333).
not only that Wakefield wanted to be a Red Sox for life so he gave them an evergreen contract in early 2000's. He signed a team friendly contract which was a renewing yearly contract which was the same amount every year which gave the club the option to renew. MLB a few years later outlawed those contract as they were to club friendly. He was grandfathered in even though he didn't have to be.
Yesterday's Yankee game was a pitching gem.
Starter went 6
Setup man went 2
Closer went 1.

Wakefields' legacy celebrated at emotional '04 Red Sox reunion

He was one hell of a knuckleball pitcher who consistently befuddled Yankee bats.
Sadly he and then his wife recently passed away. May they R.I.P.
Even when bader does get hits, he love getting a single and getting out trying to stretch it too a double, he has allready done this multiple times this season, and it is not like he is on a lot to begin with. Play Tyrone Taylor and sit bader please.
As I said you don't bat a guy with a .125 as your cleanup hitter.
You do understand what a clean up hitter is supposed to do I hope.
JD Martinez is now backed up more with a back injury, guess they brought a injured player, did they do a physical perhaps?
I still have no clue why Vientos isn't up here (Hitting a ton in the minors), especially now. And in the meantime Francisco Alvarez is sitting again for the Great Omar Navarez who is gettting way too much playing time, and inexplicably alvarez sits again,in my opinion he is sitting waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much. But as usual there is always a ton to complain about in mets land in my opinion.
In the process of being fair to the GM, I was wrong, he did a great job on the tehran contract, there apparently was a non guarnateed contract, they needed somebody to start that game because of the 15 day rule in the minors. Hence it only cost the mets 54k, and now he is gone. Now he doesn't block Butto who I really want to see, because I think he has potential to be a solid back of the rotation starter at cheap controllable costs in my opinion.
Boone hasn't changed anything in his approach to how he uses Stanton-----As stated in the post you replied to, Boone has batted Stanton behind Judge vs LHP and dropped him to 5th behind Rizzo vs RHP in every one of the 9 games this season Stanton has played---the message is Stanton has been a significantly better hitter vs lefties than righties throughout his career---EOS

Soto has won over the bleacher creatures in RF. Guy loves interacting with the fans between innings.
Hitters batting .125 don't hit clean up. Boone corrected that problem and Stanton got the message.
It was cold as hell Sat night and Schmidt was pitching in short sleeves. And the Yankees put up 3 runs in the first too innings. Try staying warm and hopefully he was down in the clubhouse.
Yesterday the Yankees saw the old Cortes and Stanton got the message and batted cleanup again.
They are slowly jelling like a hungry team again and this year they have no distractions from a few players like last year.
The last couple of years has been all on Cashman.
Mets had a great win yesterday. Nice to get excited about mets baseball on occasion. Although I'm gonna wonder how long are we gonna have to watch this tehran disaster, when butto was just fine and a much better option at this point to look at, didn't need to waste another 3M something this gm is good at. Can We get a repreive from Joey Wendle and Zack short for about a week. These guy shouldn't even be on the roster in my opinion.
ELLY DE LA CRUZ ... https://www.mlb.com AMAZING TALENT< POWER< SPEED< HUSTLE!
Guarantee he wears those glasses...
The events of Sunday’s game makes one wonder whether Angel Hernandez has stared at one too many solar eclipses?
Yep--the only move he's been making is batting Stanton behind Judge vs LHP and behind Rizzo vs RHP-----2 hour shutout tonite by Nasty Nestor
Or it could be that he just has a better roster with alot less holes.
The big guy has 2 doubles tonite off Luzardo---he's on fire
Random Yankee fan after Giancarlo Stanton's grand slam...
Nothing wrong with the bullpen now, however they will be tested in the next few months if the starters can't go more than 4 innings.
It's quite apparent that the Yankee batters are ignoring the Analytics Department, especially Anthony Volpe.
There's an absentee line in there somewhere
I like Justin Slaten which somehow we traded and got from the Mets. He can come close to 100MPH and throws strikes. We traded Ryan Ammons who has never pitched professionally.
well if they stopped counting now we would be in the playoffs.
It has been an interesting start so far
And then the Mets traded all that pitching talent away. I can still remember the whole Mets team from 1969. Went all summer long then all the playoff and WS games.
Red Sox fans are a lot like a candidate claiming victory with only 5% of the ballots counted.
There were a lot of changes. Who knew the Pirates would be in 1st place. Yankees have surprised me along with the Red Sox a game back.
Jerry Grote was one of the BEST DEFENSIVE CATCHERS IN BASEBALL HISTORY IMHO!!
He caught Seaver, Ryan, Gentry, Koosman, McGraw et al!!!
In terms of actually seeing him play, since I was born in the early 80's the answer to that would be a no. Now I know who he is, but it not the same as actually seeing the person play and caring about it. Hence I wasn't a sports fan until about 1990, so that is when my time line as a sports fan for caring really starts. Hence why Frank Thomas and Ken Griffey Jr were my first two favorite baseball players as a kid. The mets really didn't have good players, until the late 1990's altough I was a fan of team starting around 1990. Than Mike Piazza came and he was my favorite met, and than David Wright, than Jacob Degromm, and Now it is pete Alonso. All is just my opinion and I could always be wrong though.
Look at the Royals jumping up. LOL
You might not remember him but I saw him in the series.
Jerry Grote, Star Mets Catcher on 1969 Championship Team, Dies at 81
Known for his field savvy and his powerful arm, he helped to propel the New York Mets through their storied 1969 World Series run.

Well, beat the drum and hold the phone - the sun came out today!
We're born again, there's new grass on the field.
A-roundin' third, and headed for home, it's a brown-eyed handsome man;
Anyone can understand the way i feel.
Chorus:
Oh, put me in, coach - i'm ready to play today;
Put me in, coach - i'm ready to play today;
Look at me, i can be centerfield.
Well, i spent some time in the mudville nine, watchin' it from the bench;
You know i took some lumps when the mighty casey struck out.
So say hey willie, tell ty cobb and joe dimaggio;
Don't say "it ain't so", you know the time is now.
Chorus
Yeah! i got it, i got it!
Got a beat-up glove, a homemade bat, and brand-new pair of shoes;
You know i think it's time to give this game a ride.
Just to hit the ball and touch 'em all - a moment in the sun;
(pop) it's gone and you can tell that one goodbye!

Field of Dreams (1989)
"The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time.
This field, this game, is a part of our past, Ray.
It reminds us of all that once was good, and that could be again.
Oh people will come, Ray. People will most definitely come."
