Power Rankings: There's already a shakeup at the top
https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-power-rankings-for-the-week-of-april-7-2024
Maybe today will get him going hopefully.
what's out of alignment is Red Sox pitching:
Starters:
Houck IP 12, ERA 0.00
Pivetta IP 11, ERA 0.82
Crawford IP 10.2, ERA 0.84
Whitlock IP 9.1, ERA 0.96
Bello IP 10, ERA 5.40
Starters IP 53, ERuns 9, ERA 1.53
Relievers IP 47.1 ERuns 6, ERA 1.15
A little shake up in the line up and the team got the message.
There is nothing wrong with the BP. Sat night Boone left Schmidt in hoping he'd go 5 and get the win since he pitched a great game. And left Weaver in an too long.
Did you watch the game?
The BP had no problems today.
More Good news after yesterday blown lead. Meanwhile Vientos continues to hit in triple A, while the immortal Zack short/Joey wendle is up here.
Stanton...3 H, HR yesterday---loud monster Grand Slam into the wind today oughta quiet the boos for a bit
Volpe cut off a GB in the hole with runners on 1st and 2nd---glanced at 3rd then a look at 1st---no chance anywhere except surprise---Dawdling Daniel
Atleast I don't have to watch that anymore thankfully. I mean him rounding 2b, was like looking for a solar eclipse when he was in a mets uniform both rare and hurts you to watch, since they don't make protective vogelbach glasses. LOL.
Watching Vogelbach rumbling down to 2B in the 9th last nite was at least a 4.2 aftershock...
Is the universe out of alignment,: 4.8 magnitude earthquake, solar eclipse and Red Sox one game back?
Should have some reinforcements at some point---Kahnle, Trivino, Effross---meanwhile Spencer Strider has UCL right elbow damage
Red Sox pitching still going strong as we gave up two unearned runs in a 2-1 loss. Felt the loss of Story first game. ERA after 9 games is 1.44
The Yankees' bullpen should be "toast" by the all-star break.
I delivered it in person. And it was windy as hell with the wind blowing out to right.
The bleacher creatures had no mercy on Springer playing RF chanting F George Springer. And he struck out to end the game with a man on.
A perfect ending for the ex-Astro.
Well we were at the game tonight and they moved Stanton down to 5th and batted Rizzo in the clean up spot and that is all it takes to make the bats come alive.
Shake up the line up and the players get the message.
https://www.mlb.com/gameday/blue-jays-vs-yankees/2024/04/06/745766/final/box
Judge, Rizzo and Stanton all went yard and no feelings were hurt. lol.
Stanton must have gotten the message for a minute-----HR to RF in the 1st after a Judge 2-run bomb--went about 300 feet
It's definitely a tad easier to hide Stanton when you start 6-2, but with Soto coming down to earth and the grind of 162 games kicking in, Stanton will become a bigger white elephant in that line up. IMO, the Yanks will part ways with him just after the all-star break, if they're in contention and Stanton is still south of .200 with single digit HRs. Big deal. Eat the cash and be done with him. Just another name on the list of very rich men with mediocre baseball skills whose agents were lucky enough to bump up against Brian Cashman.
Across town, Lindor has become a very real problem in the 2 hole. At 2-6, the Mets can't wait for him to figure it out. A couple of more disasterous weeks and the season could be lost. He needs to sit. Or bat 9th if you want his glove on the field, but I'd start with a day off for him.
Dodged a bullet not trading for Bieber who is now going in for TJS...
There is that---hell, he's still got $30M comin' from the Fish..
Maybe this is why teams are unwilling to commit years and dollars to 30+ veterans.
The intangible is the number of quality free agents that were been pursued as the result of the Giancarlo Stanton's "albatross" contract.
There's two sides to every Story...
He's not like that
That's a sad Story---he can share a room with Loaisiga...
After two injury ridded seasons Story adds a third injury riddled season with what appears a separated shoulder or worse.
this is usually the time of year you're planning your trip to the Tobin-----break up the Red Sox...
How about those Red Sox. Leading MLB with a 1.60 ERA. Mets are second with 2.18 but last in offense with a putrid .167 batting average.
Yankees must ban Giancarlo Stanton from cleanup spot after home opener stinker

He'll get over it.
The bum is batting cleanup and went 0-4 yesterday with two Ks.
Martian can't get back fast enough to fill that Stanton-sized hole---Verdugo was a 1/4 inch off the barrel on a game-tying blast in the bottom of the 9th...
Yankees, especially Giancarlo Stanton, must have been rattled by today's earthquake.
It's Stanton's fault for attending the Joey Gallo School of hitting last winter.
Giancarlo Stanton has become the new Josh Donaldson.
Pete is the best pure homerun hitter in the game or at least one of the best on a very short list. More importantly he got the team off the deck. Watching some of those at bats late were of a defeated look, lindor was the worst late, he looks lost right now. I'm still worried your GM doesn't like Pete. Not his type of player, he like people who play defense, I generaly prefer the bat, you can't win if you can't score. Especially when you want to play guy like wendle and bader for some strange reason.
Lost in the shuffle I like what I'm seeing from Baty so far. His defense looks waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay improved, and his at bats just look more competitive, still can't figure out why the manager had him bunt in the 1rst game.
I liked what we seen from Butto, he battled so well today. I rather see him than tehran going foward. But that is just me I guess.
Can't believe the pitch Pete hit out. It was so out of the zone...and his balance was awkward. Pure power.
The pitching is been fine. The problem is lindor, Nimmo and Mcneil. Thankfully nimmo was at least showing signs of drawing walks today.
Stanton’s woes
It was a familiar sight in the fourth inning of Tuesday’s game. Giancarlo Stanton badly waved and missed at a slider low and out of the zone for a strikeout. In 20 at-bats this year, Stanton has struck out 11 times. It’s the same problem that plagued him last season.
Stanton has seen 23 total pitches low and out of the strike zone. Of his 10 swings on those 23 pitches, he’s whiffed on eight of them. The potential long-term problem for Stanton is opposing pitchers know if they attack there, he has trouble laying off those pitches. In 2023, 26 percent of all the pitches Stanton saw at the plate were in that location, by far his most-attacked spot. He carried a 70 percent whiff percentage on those pitches and didn’t barrel any.
More than any point in Stanton’s career, opposing pitchers pounded that location last season. It resulted in the slugger’s worst year of his career. That strategy looks foolproof so far in 2024, which could spell more of the same for Stanton.
“No,” Boone said Tuesday when asked if he’s worried about Stanton. “I think he’s healthy. The life is there. The juice is there. It’s just a matter of getting him going. And even when G is at his very best, sometimes the outs aren’t always the prettiest. But as long as he’s healthy and firing, I feel like the bat speed and everything’s where it needs to be. It’s just about getting on time.”
Stanton reshaped his body this offseason to become more durable and reworked his swing to recapture the life he’s previously shown. It’s too early to wonder if Stanton will re-emerge but there’s reason to worry considering the same flaw is plaguing him already. If Stanton can’t figure it out by the time Jasson Domínguez is ready to return this summer and if everyone stays healthy, it will be interesting to see how long Boone and the organization stick with the designated hitter if he’s not producing.

He needs glasses.
Yup. Definitely needed that win today. Pete got his part done. He'll put up monster numbers this year IMO. And the pitching has looked decent.
Hopefully it's the start of a quick climb to break even.
I've been very fortunate in life, and it only required hard work.....and good timing.
Sad part he is better than Harrison bader, and we could of saved 10.5 million. Thankfully the mets finally won one for my sanity which was hanging by a thread at this point today. LOL.
Was that an ex-Brewer who just won the Mets their first game??!! Dang!! Who signed that guy??

Well, beat the drum and hold the phone - the sun came out today!
We're born again, there's new grass on the field.
A-roundin' third, and headed for home, it's a brown-eyed handsome man;
Anyone can understand the way i feel.
Chorus:
Oh, put me in, coach - i'm ready to play today;
Put me in, coach - i'm ready to play today;
Look at me, i can be centerfield.
Well, i spent some time in the mudville nine, watchin' it from the bench;
You know i took some lumps when the mighty casey struck out.
So say hey willie, tell ty cobb and joe dimaggio;
Don't say "it ain't so", you know the time is now.
Chorus
Yeah! i got it, i got it!
Got a beat-up glove, a homemade bat, and brand-new pair of shoes;
You know i think it's time to give this game a ride.
Just to hit the ball and touch 'em all - a moment in the sun;
(pop) it's gone and you can tell that one goodbye!

Field of Dreams (1989)
"The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time.
This field, this game, is a part of our past, Ray.
It reminds us of all that once was good, and that could be again.
Oh people will come, Ray. People will most definitely come."
