The following PDF file is the "TSA Air Cargo Screening Technology List (ACSTL)" DATED FEBRUARY 8TH,2018
There's is a lot of information within this PDF but I'm focusing primarily on ETD devices(EXPLOSIVE TRACE DETECTION),which is what 1St Detects ETD device is currently undergoing tests for "THE ACSQT" AIR CARGO SCREENING QUALIFICATOION TEST"

ON page 15 of 32 pages within this PDF dated February 8th,2018 it shows >>>>

Air Cargo Screening Technology List v10.4 Page 15 of 32 February 8, 2018
3 Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) Devices
Technology Description: Desktop or handheld devices which detect explosive residual material on typical cargo substrates through the application and analysis of a swab based collection process.
Refer to Appendix A, TSA’s Trace Consumables List (TCL) for the TSA-recommended third-party ETD Trace Consumables vendors.
3.1 Qualified ETD Technology
There are currently no systems in the ETD Qualified Technology section.
Notes:
(1) Specification of “Wand” indicates a wand is required to operate the device while specification of “No Wand” indicates a wand must not be used to operate the device.
LOOK AT IT ....IT IS BLANK ...NO VENDORS ,,,,reminder this is current as of February 8th,2018
......................
It says above >>>>> "Refer to Appendix A, TSA’s Trace Consumables List (TCL) for the TSA-recommended third-party ETD Trace Consumables vendors."
So I went to the APPENDIX A and found there are "3RD PARTY VENDORS" there are 5 companies listed there and the pages to the end of the PDF list devices and parts of devices but,the fact that on page 15 there are no vendors listed is telling me that once TSA approves 1st Detects ETD (Explosives Trace Detection device) that would put 1st Detect in the number 1 slot on page 15
Anyone interested or has the time can check what I am talking about and opinions on what this might mean overall would be welcome .... because there are 3rd party vendors ,but doesn't appear to be anything with the capabilities (especially the wand capabilities of 1st detect) and there TRACER 1000
BTW in case people don't know it 1st DETECT has and is working on developing at least 14 different detection products .... look on their website under "PRODUCTS"
http://www.1stdetect.com/
HERE is the PDF link to discussion above about the "vendors" >>>>

Astrotech subsidiary’s new bomb tracer close to TSA approval in airports
09:24 04 Apr 2018
Shares skyrocketed in pre-market trading on the back of TSA testing
TSA certification can result in big sales for the TRACER 1000 domestically and abroad
Astrotech Corp. (NASDAQ: ASTC) subsidiary 1st Detect announced Wednesday that its new explosives trace detector, the TRACER 1000, has received the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) approval to be tested by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s transportation lab.
Astrotech shares skyrocketed nearly 30% in pre-market trading and opened 17% higher to US$2.71 after the opening bell.
“We are extremely pleased with the progress we’ve made toward getting the TRACER 1000 into airports worldwide. We are confident that our system will perform to TSA’s requirements and achieve qualification,” said Thomas B. Pickens III, CEO of 1st Detect and Astrotech.
Certification for the TRACER 1000 is a major step toward the security product being listed on TSA’s Qualified Products List (QPL), and subsequently being deployed in airports throughout the United States.
TSL certification is a significant endorsement which might inspire foreign sales for the TRACER 1000 to foreign countries.

Astrotech’s 1st Detect Announces Tracer 1000 Begins Testing for Passenger Screening at Airports
Astrotech (NASDAQ: ASTC) subsidiary 1st Detect today announced that its new explosives trace detector (ETD), the TRACER 1000, has entered into Developmental Test and Evaluation (DT&E) at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS)’s Transportation Security Laboratory (TSL).
Successful completion and passing of DT&E and certification testing leads to TSL Certification – a significant endorsement that foreign governments and other U.S. government agencies consider before procuring ETDs. Certification is also a major step towards being listed on the Transportation Security Administration (TSA)’s Qualified Products List (QPL), and subsequently being deployed in airports throughout the US.
1st Detect and DHS kicked off the certification readiness process when they entered into a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) last September. Over the following months, 1st Detect’s successful demo with TSA led to the submission, evaluation and approval of a data package, and commencement of DT&E.
"We are extremely pleased with the progress we’ve made toward getting the TRACER 1000 into airports worldwide. We are confident that our system will perform to TSA’s requirements and achieve qualification,” said Thomas B. Pickens III, CEO of 1st Detect and Astrotech.

I thought this was coming..... small float. She'll boost up
Watching this one. Could run
TSA Air Cargo Screening Qualification Test
I'm sure there are other websites to find this information but in my opinion based on limited research into the ACSQT test, the process could take quite some time;I'll post a paragraph below to show you what I mean but you can go to the website I will link at the bottom of this page and click on the PDFs to formulate your own opinion;I suspect many months because it is the government,at the very least.
If anyone has any better information or has dealt with these tests in the past please share ,but I am trying to develop some kind of time line as to when this might be approved for use in airport screening.
Of course there is always the possibility that ASTC could sell 1st Detect even before approval by the TSA ,but why would someone buy them before they knew if it would be approved for use with the TSA or not first?
This excerpt is from the first PDF listed called RFI
5. QUALIFICATION PROCESS STEPS
This section describes the steps required to fulfill
qualification requirements for Stages I and II used
to evaluate a device. Stage I steps are discussed in
Section 5.1, and steps related to Stage II are
presented in Section 5.2. Cumulatively, between
Stages I and II, thirteen steps are described.
Although certain qualification groups may include
additional sub-steps (e.g., prequalification
activities), the thirteen steps are common to all
qualification groups.
That was just a taste of what lies ahead if you start digging

Due to the above information and my research I may be backing down on any price predictions I may have thought about, although it does have a low float and various other business enterprises I think it might be awhile before 1st Detect starts production or is sold.
Pickens(junior) likes to dangle those carrots to prop the stock when things start looking gloomy ,but I think the devil is in the details.

Looking good for the day right now
If they end up getting a homelands security contract the $10mil market cap will jump substantially.
Only a $10mil market cap. Insane
I'm seeing a 4mil float and 3.1mil traded
Float 2,7 Million traded 3,8 allready as i see
Should trade the entire float today.
Junior is running out of money.......Anyone else think he might do a stock offering if he doesn't make a deal on 1st detect soon?
Better than four years.
lol....good lord you really have fallen into the rabbit hole here....the really "impressive" stat is that it took them three years to get the 41k in revenue
"Revenue was $41 thousand, which was generated from a software license agreement with a large post-production film company to correct defects and restore one film."
One film at a cost of 41K. Impressive.
"combat the opioid epidemic. We are currently working on attaining certification of our product with the Transportation Security Administration."
Basically Trump stated their will be some big money going to fight opioid epidemic.
Historical note: "Under Mao
The Mao Zedong government is generally credited with eradicating both consumption and production of opium during the 1950s using unrestrained repression and social reform.Ten million addicts were forced into compulsory treatment, dealers were executed, and opium-producing regions were planted with new crops."

The drugs are pouring in through the postal system, as the amount of mail has overwhelmed the system. The government knows this, an is slowly doing something about it. TRACER 1000 is the prefect helper to sniff through the mails. I am almost 100% positive the government will be looking over TRACER 1000.
My total opinion.
maybe...did you happen to notice that 908devices won the CBRN bid, they were partnered with Smiths Detect on this...which is the same company Pickens has been desperately trying to sell 1st Detect to...makes me think there is no market for 1st detect products or the company.
No failure. They both have to do with security. Presently that is what our Washington, DC leaders are doing. Converting from xray to cat scanners. 1st Detect will have its day, along much the same pathway I believe.
I think you're right on the money with this assessment, the industry is moving away from xray scanners to cat scanners (3d cat scanners to be exact)...but unbelievably you failed to connect the critical dots that 1st Detect isn't in the 3d cat scanner business...they supposedly develop mini mass spectrometers...which is a completely different technology platform.
How did the shareholders meeting go today?
Homeland security hearing ongoing presented changing from x ray scanners to Cat Scanners. The question was, is it a priority to upgrading? The answer was yes in opinion. So now the funding from Homeland Security is the next step. Which seemed very likely something was going to be done rapidly to upgrade.
Now let us put 1st Detect in this category. Is it a priority. Of course it is. The next step is funding either by government or private business. I would tend to believe private security firms would be very interested, beyond what Homeland Security interest may develop.
This is my short opinion from watching the Homeland Security hearings.
lol...i'd be careful here. The only thing this company has ever produced in 10 years are press releases...never any sales.
You don't remember this,(probably never knew it) but they once announced that they were an exclusive OEM provider to the multi-billion dollar instrument manufacture Rigaku corporation. ---do you know how much money they realized from this "mega deal" over the past 5 years?...zero dollars and zero cents....
I actually talked to a senior sales manager from Rigaku a few years ago and he said he had never heard of 1st Detect much less of any OEM agreement between the companies...now I'm not saying this latest press release is a complete fabrication but....who knows what T Boone has determined as a "successful demo" but I can guarantee you there is no way this "company", (1st Detect) has sold or is going to be selling anything to the TSA or anyone else for that matter
WOW, the news just keeps getting better with ASTC. Thanks.
I just remembered this company is up for sale. With this kind of results that makes news. I would tend to believe that it is more than a minor mention. The company will be worth a lot of money once marketing turns to sales.
Who knows hopefully gap up trade tomorrow

You is a man thinking ahead quite accurately if I must say so m'self.
ASTC is one to hold fer sure peeps. Time to load up!$$$
1st Detect’s TRACER 1000 MS-ETD is big! Actually this breaking technology will sweep the world. Just a matter of months before 1st Detect’s TRACER 1000 MS-ETD proves itself.
look at the weekly chart. $8 possible short term
It briefly did but then it came crashing down
Maybe it'll get back to 85 soon enough :)
It dropped again but its building another bull flag
Looks like it's setting up for another big run
Explosives and narcotics detection with near zero false-positives. Could be huge if contracts awarded after demos later this week:

Astrotech Corporation (NASDAQ: ASTC) announced today that its 1st Detect subsidiary has received a Gold Award for its TRACER 1000 explosives trace detector (ETD) in the Best CBRNE Detection System category at American Security Today’s ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards program.
“We are honored and humbled to receive the award, as it is a recognition of our core philosophy of differentiation through innovation,” said Raj Mellacheruvu, Chief Executive Officer of 1st Detect. “It has long been known that mass spectrometry is the superior technology for detecting explosives. We have solved the ease of use and ruggedness challenges of traditional mass spectrometry and we now have instruments deployed and in service throughout Europe. In addition, with our near zero false alarms, our instruments cost less than the competing technology and we are quickly becoming recognized as technological leaders in the industry.”
The Annual ‘ASTORS’ Awards, now in its fifth year, is the preeminent U.S. Homeland Security Awards Program, highlighting the most cutting-edge and forward-thinking security solutions coming onto the market today. The program is specifically designed to honor distinguished government and vendor solutions that deliver enhanced value, benefit and intelligence to end users in a variety of government, homeland security, enterprise and public safety vertical markets.
“Today, the United States is increasingly focusing on protecting public spaces, as well as IT/cybersecurity networks, and they are calling on innovative companies like 1st Detect to help them do so,” according to Tammy Waitt, co-founder and editorial director of American Security Today. “‘ASTORS’ nominations are evaluated on their technical innovation, interoperability, specific impact within the category, overall impact to the industry, relatability to other industry technologies and application feasibility outside of the industry.”
The TRACER 1000 is the only certified ETD that uses mass spectrometry, the world’s gold standard instrumentation used to identify complex chemical compounds. Checkpoint and cargo certification was received from the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) enabling TRACER 1000 sales in Europe and much of the rest of the world. Additionally, on September 9, 2020, the TRACER 1000 passed the non-detection testing of the U.S. Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Air Cargo Screening Technology Qualification Test (ACSQT). Upon successful completion of detection testing, which is the next and final phase, the TRACER 1000 will be added to the Air Cargo Screening Technology List (ACSTL) as an “approved” ETD for sales to the cargo screening market within the United States.
“After many years of hard work, innovation and investment, we are poised for continued growth in the security industry which will be followed by product introductions in the fields of agriculture and medicine. This is an exciting time as we begin our scale cycle and we are pleased to have our superior technology be recognized by a leading voice in the security industry,” concluded Mellacheruvu.
