So……President Trump has expressed his opinion that the Panama Canal “may” need to be under the “control” of America. China (and Russia) would need to build the Nicaraguan Canal very quickly. For two reasons…..First, economics. Second, Military presence. In this game..military “TRUMPS” economics……..That the Panama Canal is in play will cause China to start the Nicaraguan Canal Sooner than later…just my opinion
Nicaragua unveils new canal route in bid to rival Panama The canal project would comprise four segments, with President Ortega suggesting it could attract investment from both Chinese and US businesses. / bne IntelliNews

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega has unveiled plans for a 445-kilometre interoceanic waterway that would provide an alternative to the congested Panama Canal, presenting the proposal to Chinese investors at a regional business summit.
The new route would connect the Caribbean Sea to the Pacific Ocean, beginning at a planned deep-water port in Bluefields on the Caribbean coast. The canal would traverse northern Nicaragua via Lake Xolotlan (also known as Lake Managua) before reaching the Pacific through Puerto Corinto.
The announcement comes as the Panama Canal, which handles around 5% of global seaborne trade, faces significant challenges with water levels and vessel traffic, leading to lengthy delays. "Every day it becomes more complicated to pass through Panama," Ortega told delegates at the XVII China-Latin America and the Caribbean Business Summit in Managua, which drew representatives from 29 countries.
The Panama Canal has experienced a 29% decrease in ship transits over the past fiscal year due to severe drought conditions, according to the Panama Canal Authority (ACP). From October 2023 to September 2024, only 9,944 vessels passed through the canal, compared to 14,080 the previous year.
Nicaragua's ambitious project represents a shift from a previous canal initiative. In May, the government revoked a controversial concession granted to Hong Kong Nicaragua Canal Development (HKND) Group, which had proposed a different route through Lake Cocibolca.
As part of the new proposal, the Chinese company CAMC has signed a contract with Nicaragua's Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure for the construction of the Bluefields port facility.
The canal project would comprise four segments, with Ortega suggesting it could attract investment from both Chinese and American businesses. He referenced historical precedent for the undertaking, noting that the United States had considered building a Nicaraguan canal as far back as 1854.
Environmental and financial analysts have previously questioned the feasibility of such projects in Nicaragua. However, the government maintains that the infrastructure development would boost regional trade and economic growth.
The initiative emerges as Nicaragua seeks to position itself as a crucial link in global maritime trade, though specific details about funding and environmental impact assessments have yet to be revealed.
Well….it appears that the Nicaragua Canal is back in play…… https://www.intellinews.com/nicaragua-unveils-new-canal-route-in-bid-to-rival-panama-354300/
Great. What, if anything, could this mean for the shareholders in the ticker, formally known as ACDU?
Looks like it’s going to happen very soon!
Seems he is looking for new players which does not indicate to me that he intends to drag along old investors. But some of the old shareholders were retired Nicaragua military and other insiders who also now hold seemingly worthless shares. Unless he sees a way to pacify them, and not exclude outsiders, us, there might be a dim chance we will be included in the resurrection. JMO.
I see it as simply putting both hands out in front of him, palms up, trying to catch any tidbit that might be shaken loose.
Just another article today that earlier plans could have possibly prevented. Sorry, just crying over spilled milk.

Nicaragua's FM: Belarus might take part in Nicaragua Canal project
Denis Moncada Colindres
Denis Moncada Colindres
MINSK, 19 May (BelTA) – Belarus might participate in the construction of the Nicaragua Canal that can become an alternative to the existing Panama Canal, Nicaragua's Minister of Foreign Affairs Denis Moncada Colindres told journalists in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
Answering BelTA's question whether it is theoretically possible that Belarus could contribute to this grand project with its technologies and equipment, the foreign minister said: “During our conversation [with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko] we talked about cooperation in infrastructure. I would like to note that the Nicaraguan Canal and Development Project is running; it has not been put on hold. Therefore, of course, Belarus could also take part in infrastructure projects, including the project you have mentioned.”
In 2012 the National Assembly of Nicaragua approved the project to build the Grand Interoceanic Canal that would connect the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. The new interoceanic canal is projected to be longer, wider and deeper than the Panama Canal (opened in 1920) and to seriously relieve maritime traffic.
According to Denis Moncada Colindres, the meeting with the president of Belarus was fruitful. The parties reaffirmed their commitment to mutual support and solidarity, discussed promising cooperation projects, a possibility to supply equipment, as well as other matters.
“We have discussed the financial aspect of the projects that we plan to implement. First of all, this pertains to technology in agriculture, the supply of equipment for infrastructure projects, cooperation in education, bilateral trade. These are our key points of interest where we would like to align our positions. At the moment, we are discussing the specifics of joint projects that we intend to implement. Our primary goal is to create the necessary conditions, an adequate legal framework to implement these projects and explore other promising avenues of cooperation,” the Nicaraguan foreign minister said.
A reminder, Aleksandr Lukashenko suggested expanding bilateral relations with Nicaragua at the meeting with the foreign minister on 19 May. “We have everything in place today to build good, close relations. Here we count on the legendary leader of Nicaragua, whom we all love and respect in Belarus. I will ask you to convey best regards from the Belarusian people and me personally to Daniel Ortega. We admired his political activities,” the president said.
He assured that Belarus has everything that Nicaragua needs, and even in abundance. “While building our contacts, we need to create a legal framework for bilateral cooperation in the economy. This is a matter of time. I think if we get down to this now, we will be able to develop this legal framework and build deep economic contacts within a year. We are ready for this,” the Belarusian leader noted.
Belarus and Nicaragua are actively cooperating within the framework of international organizations. The bilateral trade is still rather small and is dominated by supplies from Belarus. The legal framework is under development. Work is underway to align key draft agreements that will lay the basis for trade and economic cooperation.
Got ya, i tried to put this so far out of my mind.. how these people can do this to others not even in jail.. hope theres a special place in hell waiting for him
no, was speaking of the motel near the airport in Managua, Nicaragua, I had forgotten about the stateside place.
Oh yes that motel in jersey..
So sad. although you, like me, with the potential that was/is there, might do the same today. Our only consolation might be that apparently a large group of local retired gov't investors lost theirs too. That motel is not a rag to riches.
Still have all my shares about 30,000 dollars worth, what a shame

Have learned that my former Americano on the ground guy in Nicaragua has passed away.
I was deleting some old posts I had saved, and this exchange popped up. At the time there were skeptics against the construction due to locals losing access to lands on the other side of the canal. A msg board discussion included the following posts. I dwelled on the last item and realized that I had not caught the significance of the last poster's comment. The poster mentioned a Boom Bridge. At 1st glance to me is, why not? Would need regular bridges on the Pacific and west side if the lake, and maybe another on the Gulf side, but otherwise just use barges or maybe the Boom Bridge. Admittedly, the cables would have to be very high to allow ocean liners, maybe an aircraft carrier, some sailing ships, though.

Has anyone wondered how they are going to build bridges over this alleged "grand canal". Said bridges need to have more clearance than the Tampa Bay Bridge. (66 meters). Not even ONE reporter has ever asked this question. This would apply in two locations at minimum. The bridges themselves (if ever built) would take longer than the claimed 5 years.

Last January 16, the replacement of Taiwanese investment with the sustainable socio-economic development model of the PRC’s “Belt and Road Initiative” in Nicaragua is particularly threatening to regional US economic domination. In 2014, Nicaragua partnered with a Chinese firm to initiate construction of a second shipping lane connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans in addition to the current US-dominated Panama Canal.[3] The anti-Sandinista opposition party Unamos (formerly known as the Sandinista Renovation Movement or MRS), whose leaders frequently met and provided information to the US embassy, helped organize an NED-engineered pseudo-movement in opposition to the project, which eventually came to a halt during the political violence of 2018.[4] The potential relaunch of the Nicaraguan canal project could prove to be a pivotal point in the US’s New Cold War and flailing bid to remain the world’s lone superpower.
The re-establishment of official ties between Nicaragua and China also suggests that construction work on the Nicaraguan canal may resume in the not-too-distant future. And this will signify a change to the rules of the game in the region.
In 2013, a contract was signed for the construction of a shipping canal in Nicaragua, with the Chinese investor Wang Jing receiving a concession. At the time, it was seen as a possible alternative to the Panama Canal that would have the potential to change regional geopolitics. The project was called the Grand Interoceanic Canal of Nicaragua. However, HK Nicaragua Canal Development (HKND Group) went bankrupt, so the project has been on hold since 2018. Now, it seems that Beijing will seize this window of opportunity.
Wang Jing himself wrote a letter to Daniel Ortega, stating that his company, HKND Group, and he personally still believed in the Grand Canal project. China needs to carry on with the Belt and Road Initiative, where a new transit hub will help optimise logistics and make additional anchor points, since the infrastructure involves the construction of two ports, an airport, a power plant, and various roads.
In comparison with the Panama Canal, the canal in Nicaragua will be considerably more attractive: it will be wider and deeper, allowing more goods to pass through it. It is expected that container ships of up to 400,000 tons will be able to pass through the canal. (The Panama Canal can only handle ships of up to 150,000 tons.)
From the outset, it was assumed that Russia would ensure the security of the construction and the maintenance of the canal. Given the close ties between the Russian and Nicaraguan military and special services, Moscow’s inclusion in the project is entirely feasible. In fact, a larger Russian military presence in the region will now be justified (after all, terrorists could endanger shipping traffic, which must be prevented). Just a stone’s throw from the US

Nicaragua Delivers Ancient Taiwanese Goods To China
Nicaragua had already had diplomatic relations with China between 1985 and 1990, during Ortega's first term as president.
TODAY NICARAGUA (EFE) The Government of Nicaragua reported on Monday that all the assets that the Government of Taiwan had in the country remain “with absolute and unrestricted ownership of the domain” of China, as a result of the establishment of relations with the Asian giant after having broken them with the island.

Pigs may yet fly!
I saw a news article that brought back memories of the planned future canal that ACDU needed as a part of it's future growth in Nicaragua. A large part of the plans were political. China's desires to have access to the USA east coast by way of a base/path to the Atlantic was through the canal.
Like their problems of over expansion now, their principal party was a well heeled Chinese businessman, thought to be backed by their Government, who had monetary problems with some of his holdings in China, backed away and basically the canal fell through. This also took most of ACDU's much larger plans. They did complete a motel near the airport in Managua. I assume their option to purchase and develop the Caribbean port totally fell through.
I would not be surprised if the situation now unfolding in China seems to be following the same blueprint as they did in Nicaragua. They overplayed their financial ability and had to scale back.

I have no idea what experience, education, background, profession or any credentials that this writer has. I simply ran across this detailed response he made to a re-hashed article. BUT, I'm, no engineer either and really don't have sufficient knowledge to poke holes in his somewhat detailed but simplified plan to get a canal across Nicaragua. If bored during this holiday season you might find his comments to a Havana Times article interesting. His last sentence does seem extreme when compared to already accomplished feats of humankind.

I do not know if you can find a financial backer that has the money to build this Canal. But China seems to be the only realistic possibility.
China might do it to gain the prestige for the 21st century that the US got in the 19th century by building the Panama Canal.
But if an honest government in Nicaragua were to pursue this project it should couple the purification of Lake Managua as part of the deal. The vast fresh waters of Nicaragua are wasted when sent down the San Juan River. Instead a sizable part of that fresh water should be diverted north to Lake Managua. The contents of the current lake should be dumped over dams into channels toward the Pacific Ocean. The electricity from these dams could be used to pump the water up to Lake Managua from Lake Nicaragua. After the lake is purified, the water going over the dams could be used to irrigate very good soil in the region the canals pass through.
Under the current plans for the canal much new agricultural land will be created.
The persons who are displaced by the canal should be given access to the new lands and the new shore lines created by all the reservoirs built to operate the canal.
Displaced owners should be fully compensated for their lands at the value of the land after the canal is built.
I can not fathom why the Nicaraguan government wants to screw the owners of properties necessary for the construction of the canal. This is simply stupid. The price of the land acquisition is peanuts to the total costs.
The canal should be built with reasonable environmental concerns. The potential value to all of Nicaragua is worth the risk.
The new fresh water reservoirs and fresh lakes will bring much enjoyment and much economic activity.
There are numerous problems but Nicaragua has a chance to create the greatest man made wonder in the history of mankind.
Do not be petty. Think big!

DOYLESTOWN, Pa., April 26, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Accredited Business Consolidators Corp., (Pink Sheets:ACDU), previously announced that its subsidiary, Envirocare Corp., was working on a business venture to sell environmentally friendly cementitious products that contain reduced Portland cement. ACDU negotiated with multiple entities that offer green cementitious products. After a complete review, the Company determined that it would join an alliance between various professionals. The alliance formed a company, Calichi Sino Inc., to move forward with bringing green construction materials to market. ACDU will not hold a control position in the new entity; rather, it will directly and indirectly own about 20% of the alliance. However, the scope of the alliance will be much broader than a green concrete plant in Nicaragua. Rather, CSI already began negotiations for multiple projects. More importantly, the other members of the alliance include the creators of a green cement known as Zeobond. Zeobond's product, which is being produced and used in Australia, will be the starting point for CSI's offering. Additional members of the alliance include the founders of Harricrete Ltd. of Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies. Harricrete has extensive experience bringing cementitious products to market. Other participants in the alliance will be announced in the future as agreements are secured. Over the next month, ACDU and the other alliance members of CSI will continue the process of finishing the exact share structure of the new entity. Thereafter, it will create a registration statement for CSI. CSI's Central Index Key number with the Securities and Exchange Commission is 0001489668. Shareholders are invited to review filings with the CIK code when they are released to be informed of further details. ACDU believes its participation in CSI is an extraordinary opportunity as the alliance members are reputable and able to bring environmentally friendly building supplies to market. As stated, the alliance members are already offering green solutions to the construction industry and CSI will enhance the success of the numerous opportunities that will be presented through this venture The Calichi Sino Inc. logo is available at http://www.globenewswire.com/newsroom/prs/?pkgid=7382

Accredited Suppliers Corp. continues to operate its business at a profit; however, the operation remains small with only one vehicle on the road and a total of four agents. ASC is relying on moving forward with its registration statement so that it can raise additional capital and replicate its present operation on a larger scale. The Company expects the documents for Accredited RAC, the rental agency subsidiary, to be accepted this week by the Pennsylvania Secretary of State. The Company retained Attorney Harold Montiel from Managua, Nicaragua, to form the Nicaraguan entity. The Company understands that Costa Rican retail shop, Marilyn Boutique, will expand to Spain with its second retail shop before the end of the year. The Company agreed to assist the Costa Rican company which it owns 25% of. The Company believes that expansion in Europe, where there is an additional premium on unique culture-based clothing, will create substantial growth. The Company received a report from the executives of Soluciones Faciles, S.A., the Costa Rican enterprise that we own 25% of. The report indicates that during the experimental stage of the Company, it was able to receive a return of over 30% per annum on its loans - even factoring in defaults and costs. As a result, Soluciones Faciles S.A. must seriously consider whether it will create a vehicle to raise capital from direct investors to fund additional loans and expand to several offices or whether it should continue to grow using house capital. |
