VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Oct. 16, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Balmoral Resources Ltd. (TSX:BAR) ("Balmoral" or the "Company") announces that it has increased its previously announced (see NR19-18, Oct. 11, 2019) non-brokered private placement (the “Offering”) to $2.35 million. The Offering will now consist of hard dollar units, National flow-through shares and Quebec flow-through shares (the latter previously announced). Under the terms of the Offering the Company has agreed to sell to subscribers in the province of Quebec up to 7,173,913 Quebec flow-through common shares of the Company at a price of $0.23 per Quebec flow-through common share (the “Quebec Flow-Through Offering”). The Company has also agreed to sell up to 1,315,789 National flow-through common shares at a price of $0.19 per National flow-through common share (the “National Flow-Through Offering”) and 2,647,058 units priced at $0.17 per unit, with each unit consisting of one common share and one half (1/2) common share purchase warrant (the “Unit Offering”). Each whole warrant will entitle the holder to purchase one additional common share at a price of $0.30 for a period of 18 months from the closing of the Offering.

The gross proceeds of the Offering will be used by the Company for the exploration of the Company’s Canadian exploration properties, principally those located in the province of Quebec, and for general working capital purposes. The National and Quebec Flow-Through Offerings are anticipated to close on or before October 30, 2019 and the Unit Offering on or before November 8, 2019.

Closing of the Offering is subject to certain conditions including the receipt of regulatory approvals, such as the acceptance of the Offering by the Toronto Stock Exchange. The shares and warrants to be issued under the Offering will be subject to a four month hold period from the Closing Date under applicable securities laws in Canada.

In connection with the Offering, Balmoral has engaged Laurentian Bank Securities Inc. to act as its exclusive financial advisor for the Offering. The Company may pay Finder’s Fees in accordance with the policies of the TSX in conjunction with the closing of the Offering.

This press release, released Tuesday of last week, 7/8/ 2014, which give us the newest drilling strategy and results, is loaded with bombs that can, once a few investors understand and ponder it, has the potential to drive the share price up several dollars.

GRASSET DRILLING UPDATE

Eight diamond drill holes have now been completed on the wholly owned Grasset Ni-Cu-PGE property to follow-up the discovery of high-grade nickel-copper-PGE mineralization within the Grasset Ultramafic Complex. Drill hole GR-14-25, the first hole to test Horizon 3 of the Complex, returned a 45.28 metre interval which graded 1.79% Ni, 0.19% Cu, 0.42 g/t Pt and 1.04 g/t Pd (see NR-14-11, May 20, 2014). The high-grade nickel-copper-PGE mineralization in hole GR-14-25 is associated with a broad zone of "net textured" sulphides surrounded by a broader halo of disseminated sulphide mineralization.

All eight holes completed to date have intersected broad intervals of sulphide mineralization along the projected extension of Horizon 3, the principal target of the current drill campaign. Seven of the eight holes have intersected net textured sulphide intervals along the Horizon, with the eighth returning heavily disseminated sulphides.

Samples from six of the first eight holes have now been delivered to ALS-Chemex in Val d'Or, Quebec for analysis. Initial results are expected within the next 4-5 weeks. An additional 4-5 holes are planned prior to a short break in drilling to allow for additional borehole geophysical work to be completed.

The main ore minerals in VMS deposits are, unsurprisingly, sulphides, including pyrite (iron sulphide), sphalerite (zinc sulphide), chalcopyrite (copper-iron sulphide) and galena (lead sulphide).
VMS deposits contain minor amounts of silver and gold plus a large variety of other elements including cobalt, tin, selenium, manganese, arsenic, tellurium, antimony, and mercury among others. Some of these can be extracted as a by-product, increasing a mine’s profitability.

Volcanic massive sulphide deposits are accumulations of metal sulphides that precipitate from heated hydrothermal fluid associated with volcanically active under-sea environments.
The volcanic activity is caused by rifting in the Earth’s crust. A rift is simply an area where the Earth’s crust is being pulled apart, and the result is that magma from Earth’s mantle rises up beneath the area where the crust is being stretched.
Rifting causes magma from the mantle to rise and cool in the Earth’s crust. The magma expels volatiles that carry valuable elements toward the surface. The large temperature difference between the rising volatiles and seawater percolating down through the rock causes convection. Convection allows more metals to be incorporated into the fluids until the fluids finally escape to the surface through faults or similar structures. When the fluids are expelled into the ocean (via a “black smoker”) the dramatic decrease in temperature causes sulphide minerals to be precipitated onto the seafloor.
As the metal-rich fluids enter the overlying water at temperatures around 400°C, the drastic temperature decrease caused by mixing of these fluids with seawater causes the metals to precipitate out as sulphide minerals.

VMS Size, Geometry & Distribution
The two features make VMS deposits such desirable exploration targets are their size and geometry. These deposits often form over a long time and can be reactivated on numerous occasions. This results in individual lenses that are a hundred meters thick and extend hundred meters along strike. The reactivation also causes the deposits to be zoned around the black smoker pipe, with a predictable distribution of sulphides.
The massive accumulations of sulphides show up very well in geophysical surveys because they are both denser and more conductive than the surrounding rock, making VMS deposits a relatively easy geophysical exploration targets.
The shape of the deposits makes VMS ideal for cheap open-pit mining methods because a large amount of ore can be removed without having to remove very much waste rock. This is a much cheaper mining method than when ore is hosted in narrow veins, resulting in a much higher ratio of waste to ore removal..
VMS deposits often occur in clusters within a particularly small area (~10 km2) all related to the same event, since the metal-rich fluids may escape to the surface through many vents. The discovery of one large VMS deposit may well mean that there are other targets nearby.
Almost any age of terrain can potentially host a VMS deposit. The oldest VMS style deposits are some 3.4 billion years old while the youngest are being deposited today in oceans including the Red Sea and the western Pacific Ocean. There are ~800 VMS deposits known worldwide with about 350 of those in Canada. Worldwide there is much exploration for VMS-style deposits, particularly in the remote Canadian arctic.

The Flin Flon Greenstone Belt are ancient Precambrian rocks which host the biggest concentration of VMS deposits in Canada. The ore bodies are predominantly zinc-copper with significant gold and silver. Ore bodies range in size from 100,000 tonnes to 60 million tonnes.
One of the largest producers is Hudbay Minerals Inc. that was founded in 1927 to mine the region. Their 777 Mine produces zinc, copper, gold and silver. They are currently developing a new project at Snow Lake some 215km north of Flin Flon. In 2012 their production figures included:
39,587 tonnes copper
80,866 tonnes zinc
101,059 ounces of silver and gold.

The mine is hosted in the Abitibi greenstone belt which is around 2.8 – 2.6 billion years old Kidd Mine is operated by Xstrata and is the world’s deepest base metal mines. Balmoral Resources Ltd. ("Balmoral" or the "Company") (TSX: BAR) (OTCQX: BALMF) today reported the results of the winter 2014 drill program on the Company's wholly owned Martiniere Property. Results are highlighted by an intercept of 1,138 g/t (33 oz/ton) gold over 4.87 metres from the Bug Lake Footwall Zone, which includes a property record intercept of 9,710 g/t (312 oz/ton) over 0.57 metres. This intercepts sits within a 71.05 metre wide gold mineralized interval cutting the Footwall and Bug Lake Gold Zones. This high-grade intercept and others in today's release continue to emphasize the high to bonanza-grade nature of the Bug Lake Footwall Zone. Holes MDE-14-143 and -144 also successfully extended the Bug Lake and related gold zones to a vertical depth of 400 metres, including an intercept of 8.25 g/t gold over 14.53 metres associated with the lower steep (see Figure 1 - Cross Section 1+62.5 North and "Steeps and Flats" below). The Zones remain open below this depth for potential expansion.

Testing of the southern extension of the Bug Lake Gold Trend, (see Figure 2 - Plan Map and Figure 3 - Cross Section 3+25 South) 500 metres to the south of MDE-13-143, has identified high-grade gold mineralization associated with a newly identified "steep" section of the Bug Lake Fault Zone. Hole MDE-14-142 returned intercepts of 9.35 g/t gold over 5.17 metres and 4.78 g/t gold over 2.65 metres from the upper and lower contacts of the Bug Lake porphyry in the deepest hole to date along the southern extension.

Northern Segment - Bug Lake Gold Trend

During the winter 2014 program Balmoral completed fifteen holes along the northern segment of the Bug Lake Gold Trend. Drilling was successful on multiple fronts, extending open ended portions of the Bug Lake and related gold zones in the near surface, extending the zones to depth beyond the limits of previous drilling, confirming the current exploration model, intersecting high-grade gold mineralization from the second, down-dip, "steep" along the Bug Lake structure and returning the single highest grade intercept to date from the Detour Gold Trend Project.

Holes MDE-14-124 to -128 successfully extended the high-grade Hanging Wall Zone in an area of historically sparse testing and appear to have also intersected a new near surface vein zone. Additional testing is warranted in this area to attempt to expand the Hanging Wall Zone and test the new vein zone.

Holes MDE-14-129 to MDE-14-135 were drilled to provide detailed in-fill and additional geological information in the area peripheral to the high-grade Footwall Zone and marginal phases of the Hanging Wall Zone.

Holes MDE-14-143 and MDE-14-144 represent two of the deepest tests of the Bug Lake Gold Trend to date and add considerably to the Company's understanding of the geometry and potential of the lower, down-dip "steep" section of the Bug Lake Zone. These holes successfully extend the Bug Lake Gold Zone to a vertical depth of 400 metres and provide solid evidence of the continuation of the high-grade gold mineralization to minimum depths of 315 metres supporting the current geological model. The gold bearing system remains open to depth.

Steeps and Flats

As previously discussed, the Bug Lake Gold Trend is characterized by steeply dipping segments ("steeps") which are connected by shallowly, east dipping, segments ("flats") producing a somewhat sigmoidal pattern to both the Bug Lake porphyry and gold mineralized zones (see Figure 1). Drilling to date has intersected significantly greater thicknesses, and typically higher grades, along the steeps. Drilling along the northern, 375 metre long, segment of the Bug Lake Gold Trend has intersected a steep in the near surface and has now demonstrated the presence of a second, well mineralized steep at depths ranging between 150 and 400 metres extending beyond the current vertical level of testing. Overall the mineralized system along the northern segment has a plunge to the south.

Until the winter 2014 program, insufficient drilling had been completed along the southern extension of the Bug Lake Gold Trend to determine if the intercepts reported to date reflected Flats or more favourable steeps. Four holes, including three from the winter program, completed on cross-section 3+25 South (Figure 3) indicate that the near surface intercepts along much of the southern extension are in fact characterized by flat or moderate dips. The first steep on section 3+25 south was intersected, along with higher grade gold mineralization, at depths between 150 to 225 vertical metres and remains open to depth. Holes MDE-14-140, -141 and -142 were drilled on cross-section 3+25 south (Figure 3), with the deepest hole, MDE-14-142, intersecting the first confirmed steep along the southern extension. This hole features two high-grade gold bearing intervals located along the upper and lower contacts of the Bug Lake porphyry, similar to high-grade mineralization defined along the northern segment of the Trend. This high-grade mineralization is open in all directions, with hole MDE-14-142 representing the deepest test of the southern segment of the Bug Lake Zone to date.

The Bug Lake Gold Trend

The Bug Lake and associated gold zones parallel a 20 to 50 metre wide NNW-trending, steeply east-dipping fault zone (the Bug Lake Fault) which separates mafic intrusive and mafic volcanic lithologies on the Martiniere Property. A 5 to 30 metre wide NNW-trending felsic porphyry dyke is located within the fault corridor. Gold mineralization occurs in distinct shear-vein zones in the Footwall and Hanging Wall to the porphyry, as well as within silica-flooded fault breccias (Bug Lake Zone) which are typically best developed in the footwall or immediate hanging wall to the porphyry. Gold mineralization in the Bug Lake area is associated with disseminated pyrite mineralization, with the high to bonanza grade intervals frequently containing abundant fine free gold.

Plans for the summer 2014 drill program at Martiniere are currently being finalized, with drilling expected to resume in late June or early July with the focus on additional expansion and infill drilling along the northern segment of the Bug Lake Gold Trend, additional testing of the newly identified steep along the southern extension and testing of several other high priority targets within the broader Martiniere gold system.

Quality Control

Mr. Darin Wagner (P.Geo.), President and CEO of the Company, is the non-independent qualified person for the technical disclosure contained in this news release. Mr. Wagner has supervised the work programs on the Martiniere Property, visited the property on multiple occasions, examined the drill core and/or photographs from the holes summarized in this release, discussed, reviewed the results with senior on-site geological staff and reviewed the available analytical and quality control results.

Balmoral has implemented a quality control program for all of its drill programs, to ensure best practice in the sampling and analysis of the drill core, which includes the insertion of blind blanks, duplicates and certified standards into sample stream. NQ sized drill core is saw cut with half of the drill core sampled at intervals based on geological criteria including lithology, visual mineralization and alteration. The remaining half of the core is stored on-site at the Company's Martiniere field camp in Central Quebec. Drill core samples are transported in sealed bags to ALS Minerals' Val d'Or, Quebec analytical facilities. Gold analyses are obtained via industry standard fire assay with atomic absorption finish using 30 g aliquots. For samples returning greater than 5.00 g/t gold follow-up fire assay analysis with a gravimetric finish is completed. The Company has also requested that any samples returning greater than 10.00 g/t gold undergo screen metallic fire assay. Following receipt of assays, visual analysis of mineralized intercepts is conducted and additional analysis may be requested. ALS Minerals is ISO 9001:2008 certified and the Val d'Or facilities are ISO 17025 certified for gold analysis.

Have to admit this is one of the more fun “problems” I have had to deal with. Two high-grade discoveries in different metals at the same time located 40 kilometres apart.


How much money does the company have to fund exploration at Grasset and Martiniere?


Currently just over $7.0 million in cash with another $2.0 million dollars of in-the-money warrants which are trickling in so we are funded, nearly ready to roll the drills back out on both fronts and looking forward to what will be a very exciting summer for our shareholders.

Same here, been in here since the 90's last year....averaged down into the 50's and 40's .... had no liquid left to buy lower into the 30's ...

I'm holding 66,000 shares at an average price of 0.65...so I'm finally touched break even on Friday, FINALLY...price of gold might go up to 1420 if it catches up to Silver...BAR could be 75 cents easily by then
