A good business? Four years behind Intel on FinFET. Their FinFET future still not defined or assured. You want me to give them a pat on the back for slow development of an economically flawed planar node?

Yeah, how has Intel's "lead" on FinFET helped them fight big, bad Qualcomm?

Process is an enabler, not the be all, end all. If it were, then the game would already be "won" by now.

Intel's 22 nanometer mobile designs were disappointing, late, and ultimately failures to generate profit for the investors - FinFETs and all ;-)

Walbert,
I was wondering when somebody was going to
pull up the lackluster track record of TSMC.
I can tell you all here on this board INTC's process is better than TSMC's - not by much..
INTC may be slow and methodic but INTC would never shutdown a whole node like TSMC did. To shut a whole node is a definition of failure to execute. Like having a killer process problem that could not be fixed. I mean come on - they were running too fast and did get there process tape-out good enough before ramping. Rather piss poor when you think about.
My, My, My, how soon we forget...
I must admit TSMC is blowing their horn rather loudly lately(reminds me of IBM) - it sounds like to me they are rather insecure in their position.
The fat lady has't started singing yet..
