I made a huge mistake with gambling on management's ability to deliver during 2005 by selling shares and gambling the proceeds on Jan '06 20's and 25's. I have nobody but myself to blame for believing management would come through timely. Some of it wasn't their fault, it was the fault of the judicial system for allowing the delays in the Nokia arbitration which delayed Samsung etc.
Today's announcement that could have easily been released either Wed, Thur or Friday is management's fault. They strategically did this for some reason IMO to hit the option players. During a phone call with Janet about a year ago, she commented to me that the number of phone calls goes up dramatically during option expiration week. IDCC management was well aware of the number of option players. Why they did this I have know idea and it really pisses me off but like I said, I have nobody but myself to blame. Still, I can't understand why management would do this to option players. Hell they own a ton of options themselves that they took out of the company, oh I forgot theirs expire in a decade from the gift, not a year from date of purchase. Way to go management.
On the bright side, although I don't have the upside I once did due to my stupid option play, I still own shares and also have some Jan '07's so I will realize a decent upside anyway. Take it from me and Mickybritt, stay away from options.
