Thanks for your thoughts too and I'll start paying more attention to what you guys afford and how IDCC fits in the picture.

GE_Jim, you bring up something I've not heard before.

What is Financial Analysis? <<Well for me I like to use all three types, technical, fundamental and financial. With I suppose financial being claimed by both sides, or at least used by both sides. Peter Lynch's claim to fame was the use of financial.>>

Is Financial Analysis different from Fundamental Analysis?

I've thought there were three major types of analysis: Fundamental, Technical and Quantitative. (We learned recently that Navalier uses quantitative analysis for stock picking).

Ge_Jim, terrific stuff last night! Most practical explanation of investment analysis techniques that I have come across(and I've struggled through some lengthy tomes on those topics). Wondered if you have posted anything about how an investor might use all three approaches most effectively?

Seems like using the fundamental approach to "hunt" for investment opportunities and then to drill down with financial analysis to "qualify" the best candidates might make sense. After you have decided to take a position in an equity, it seems like it would be a good idea to switch gears and use T/A to time the buying and selling of those selected opportunities based primarily on what the market is telling you.

Fundamentals and Financial to pick 'em, and T/A to time the buying and the selling. Am I catching the drift of what you are saying? It's the T/A that I don't know how to do, and it's been some tough sledding the past few years. Ouch! Thanks!
