Any thinking person who is not on the take should be able to figure out that if an inventor cannot force a user of his patents to pay for a license, innovation will suffer.

I hope this Politically motivated BS does not hurt IDCC.

(I hope this is not too political for you Leon as I deleted my original and all responses even though it was meant as a factual statement, as in I think this action by Obama is pure politics as in who donated to his campaign)

Why is this action by the President a concern?

InterDigital is not a patent troll.

The patent holder is InterDigital from patents that they generated from their own engineers, as Gamco always has and just informed us. InterDigitial already has other relevant, standard body recognized patents to which countless others have already paid billions of dollars to use. Given the recent re-organization, ignoring reality, the perception alone would dictate that this company is beyond being labled a patent troll except in in desperate courtroom mud slinging filings.

If anything this move will eliminate those who are creating costs for those InterDigital wants to license leaving more of their patent budget for InterDigital to take. Lets not forget that Dr. Irwin Jacobs was one of President Obama's largest donors. QCOM is as much a patent troll is as InterDigital is and if one wants to argue that tangible products (chips in QCOM's case) is what defines a manufacture and ignore that intangibles themselve need to be manufactured, than Apple and Google too are patent trolls since they too only manufacture intangible ideas and rely on third parties to produce their tangible goods.
