I hope Bio is correct, statins are to be avoided if at all possible, I have have no concerns taking Vascepa.

There may be no substitute for statins, the point is that it may also turnout that there is no need for them. More and more of the research and evidence is pointing to chronic inflammatory effects as the real problem. Reduce these effects and the emphasis on lowering cholesterol may be less and less critical. That NIH meta study from 2005/6 was an eye opener.
