to put things in a nutshell:

wave wants demand-pull-side leadership.

it isn't that the supply side folks are hopeless. far from it. but the key problems which wave needs to solve are on the demand side. the notion that ss gets a free pass because the market hasn't arrived would have more power if it came from a company that hasn't been promoting its pipeline relentlessly.

it isn't a personal affront to ss to say he should step aside. he just has a different skill-set than wave needs at this juncture. the forecasting, the income and the resulting cash flow and dilution tell their tale.

fortunately, it seems that js has the appropriate kind of curiosity and independence to have a chance of turning things around.

but at this juncture, ss could retreat to a technology role with his pride intact and a tremendous achievement under his belt.
