Here! Here, Gary. The same has been said about President Bush with many complaining about how he speaks. I couldn't care less how Bob Jones speaks, but I do care what he does and right now things are looking great for our company. The political correctness has run amuck and has to stop.

Performance matters, not rhetoric. Countries, the military, businesses are going to buy our product based upon the products' performance, not the rhetoric selling the product.

gary: Please re-read my post, then go back to my earlier posts about this company. I think you will find that I do not "gripe". In fact, most of my posts regarding GTE are simply PRs as they come out.

That being said, I must say I disagree with your comments. While I am very capable of communicating with a wide spectrum of people and am able to accept a wide range of communication abilities, I maintain that a spokesperson for a company should be able to represent the product in its best possible light.

When I view a PR from a company I notice how it is written. If there are many mis-spellings, bad grammar, poor sentence construction, etc. then I think it reflects poorly upon the company. Similarly, when someone in a managing or controlling position for a company comes across as ill-prepared, I get similar feelings, even though I understand the difference between being thrust under a microphone and being able to carefully compose at a keyboard.

My comments stand as originally stated. I think that it would benefit everyone if any spokesperson for GTE is prepared and can speak with confidence and authority about the product. I disagree with your implication that speaking Pig Latin would carry the same weight with potential clients. He was not just speaking to shareholders here, who already are familiar with the product. This was an opportunity to reach a wider audience.

I have no gripe with Mr. Jones, but I see no problem with a critique of his presentation.
