If production in the Paris basin requires fracturing, then leased acreage is effectively worthless and from what I've seen, the targets there were tight. the other problem I have with that news release is that it seems to portray all of the Eagle Ford as oil rich. that is definitely not the case. Location, location, location.

apparently the first disclosure of hess being a JV partner with zaza was when zaza disclosed this when going public after merging with toreador last year (which was hess's JV partner in the paris basin)

it looks like this is a swap of eagle ford interest for paris basin. perhaps they think the new government in france might be open to fracturing at some point?? i know they have plans for some conventional wells there this year
hess never talked about he eagle ford much so i have to assume their acreage was not so primo
