SJstock, as Don has said through my DD, wetwinds is something that ECDC has to trademark or atleast get some sort of patent on. Since wetwinds is already taken by a different company called "wet winds" with a space, they will have no right to use wetwinds as their new social network because the name is already taken. IF wetwinds is a serious contender that everything thinks it will be in the social network arena, don't you think they would have reserved the name on it? Hahaha this is why doing DD is important

I don't know much about the trademark thing, but I looked up wet winds on the site. It said it was registered in 1986 and cancelled in 1993. Some recreation boats or something. Maybe it is in the process or it has to be business first. Don't know, but they could still get it if they don't already have the name the way it looks. I would think they know a lot more than we do and have things locked up.

The trademark for that name was filed by a company back in 1986. That company did not complete paperwork so the TM is now dead and available for use. If ECDC filed the application for the TM they may not have the system updated on the website. It said the last update was performed on March 31. But it does bring up the question if they have. I guess someone needs to Tweet Kay and ask that question.
