Crawford-as usual a great and also realistic which says where ACTC and going but which also puts it within of the context of the fact we live in the US and the capitalistic and sometimes selfish and greedy philosophy which places money over progress.
You know the older I get, the more I believe that most important political decisions, scientific discoveries, medical discoveries and how fast they progress is held back by the forces I cited in the last sentence.
As a corollary of this, I also believe that to some extent world markets, trading, etc. are also set up and designed in such a way so as to help a relative few.
If the general population also benefits, well fine, but I have had suspicions for a while that stocks and the markets as a whole don't trade on supply and demand factors unless you intrepet the word "demand" to mean the demands of the rich who want to get even richer.
I agree with you regarding big pharma and for that matter the car companies.
Imo fuel efficient cars could have put on the market years ago but obviously this would hurt the concept of built in obsolescence and would do neither the auto manufacturers or oil companies any good for obvious reasons.
It is no different with stem cells and what it might portend for large Pharma and the useless pills you talk about.
Multi billion dollar industries like chemotherapy would also take a big hit if modern day medical tehnology was allowed to continue on its own without approval and clearance of the folks who control big Pharma.
I would like this situation change in my lifetime to one in which better balance exists but I wouldn't bet on it.
