Thats a bit shortsighted. Is it your contention that any/all acquisitions GTE makes in the future are to be cash only? Most companies on the big boards to straight up stock swaps or a combination stock/cash deal to make acquisitions. Straight up cash deals at this point would limit GTE acquisitions severely. And 150MM AS is not a big deal. IMO it is ridiculous to equate it with OTC numbers of 1.5 billion...thats a difference of a factor of 10.
Additional shares will be needed for employee stock options, incentives, acquisitions, possible future forward splits. Tying managements hands at this point by voting NO would be detrimental to GTE. But either way, its a moot point. GTE has enough votes to get the 150MM AS approved as evidenced by the recent R/S AMEX approval.
