From my recollection, from the time I heard that quote from Susman we have been going down hill to a final settlement.
The first 2 years were just a huge waste of time and money and there was nothing anyone could do to stop it. All those b.s. shenanigans were "legal" maneuverings to see what they could get away with.
F 'em all for even trying, and don't give releases without huge compensation. Oh, and don't pay A&M or Weisels and Mangels for their b.s. representation!
