The OEMs are undoubtedly being told in no uncertain terms that speaking out against INTC will be a kiss of death for them.

Are you crazy? Intel wouldn't dare. The OEMs would record them, hand the material to AMD and the court, and perhaps threaten to issue an immediate PR concerning the threat, thereby tanking Intel's stock as the world sees the evidence add up.

Bobs10, I think maybe some of the Japanese OEMs are still with Intel in the sense that most of their product might be laptop in nature...if AMD can transition to 65nm in 06' you might see some of them dabling into AMDs market...but at least they don't have sword over their head now...

"At best by the end of next year (2006) AMD might be able to supply 40% of the market."

That is probably incorrect. By the end of 2006, Fab36 should be mostly ramped and at 65nm. With that capability and Fab30 at 90nm and the possibility of Chartered, AMD should be able to supply a larger perventage even if the market is 100% dual core, which isn't likely.

Good post !

Also on ...
// The OEMs are undoubtedly being told in no uncertain terms that speaking out against INTC will be a kiss of death for them. //

Maybe AMD should counter with..
// We can supply half the market in CPUs by end of 2006. OEMs will have to decide on which side they want to be //

I can well imagine that HP , Sun , Acer and White-Box makers will relish the thought of being supplied with nearly ALL of AMD's Opteron, Turion & Athlon64 capacity - meaning their "competitors" will get nothing.

In the end, the customer will decide on what's good for them.
I have no doubts on the outcome personally !
