Think of yourself as an enterprise with an environment which includes (and will include) a variety of sorts of equipment running a variety of OSs. Are you sure you want to hook your system administration to MS?

If I am MS, I am not sure how excited I would be about developing a solution for that kind of multi-system environment, even if for a short period PCs lead it.

It looks like an expensive investment for a solution that has no longevity.

For MS, I assume the pay-off is in delivering new client applications from which I'd guess they expect to make a whole lotta money.

I just don't see them pursuing an opportunity of this type. They don't absorb every income stream in the computing marketplace.
