Jack,

It was an EXAMPLE, plug in any numbers you want.

"These are just examples to give you a ballpark figure of the POTENTIAL for one STRAT and that does not include the one way communication revs(radio and TV)...hope this example helped some, the potential is definitely there if the plan succeeds...rock"

Jack, the opportunites for the strat are endless. Tell us what you pay for cell phone service? How about wireless service for your computer? How about cable service for your TV? Add those costs to the costs of national security and homeland security. We are talking billions and billions with unlimited potential on top of an ongoing business. GTE is ripe for growth, expansion, and a tremendous future. The proof however will be in the results, not the rhetoric or press releases.

Jack:

If you look at the deployment of any product. I don't care what it is: trucks, snow shovels, or bounce houses; it is typically only done in the highest concentration of market users.

I am not sure what area of the USA you live in but if you go to the San Fransisco Bay area you can't go about two city blocks without finding a WiFi hot spot. Likewise if you go to let's say, Mojave, you'll be hard pressed to find anything better than dial-up for 1,000 square miles.

It would be my assumption that deployment will initially occur in the highest market concentration. I chose the Northeastern US as an example as it is very high. Let's not forget that the margin of operations is of critical concern as that has been one of the attributes of the stratellite over current services.

Yet still, there appears to be great focus on the US market by posters on this board. I believe that is normal as most of us tend to place things in relative terms. The strat's developement is intended for Country's that do not have a well developed network for high speed. It is a nimble, rapid deployment approach.

Give me some time and I will produce coverage examples in places such as Australia, Europe and South America. Great questions. Keep them coming.

Jack as far as foul weather is concerned I would imagine
the technology being used is at least equal to that of
satellite companies like direct tv.Snow only causes problems
when it builds up on the receiving dish, however an extremely heavy rain does rarely cause temporary loss of service.

Then again there isn't anything on this tv worth watching
anyway.LOL
