Conard

Sorry to hear about your problem with your data. I know how you feel. I had a virus once and a disk crash but the folks at Cyber Works always got my data back. I too have not been good about backing up to my external drive so I finally signed up with Carbonite ($59/YR) and now I don't worry about it just gets backed up in the background while I change files.

That Sucks Conrad

I maintain my personal/financial files on a secure thumb drive which I carry with me (you never know when a tornado will come by).

And I back that up each week to my hard drive and then again to an external hard drive.

Pics and other stuff is carried on my hard drive and external back up drive.

But hearing your story makes me think I ought to go with Carbonite. Don't have to remember and they can always recover, even if they lose some drives.

McAfee must be able to recover. No excuse for not having redundancy built in. They of all folks should know that.
Every company has that!

If I was to upgrade my PC I would either do it myself or have my even more techie son do it. He builds his own.

Ouch Conrad.....Sorry for your misfortune.
I'm not near dilligent enough with my backups, but I will be now!
Fortunately I maintain a web site for an organization and there is plenty of free space there I can use!

Hi Conrad, The moral is when it comes to critical actions you can't trust anyone but yourself. I've learned that at work-- when the work is delegated I quietly check things myself and assume things can get screwed up.
