Only trouble with your speculation is virus don't bread rather each HCV RNA molecule is copied by the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase and the nucleic acid sequence of RNA strands serves as template for generating new viral genomes.

Assuming the apparent effect is real(!!) (at this point a small dataset but nonetheless a reasonably sized effect) my speculation is that the effect is a result the following…

In phase-3 trials and in actual clinical practice (should these regimens get to that point), I highly doubt that any all-oral HCV cocktails will be dosed in a sequential fashion.
