Let's hope that our management is in serious discussion with Sammy. Divide and conquer, baby. yeah

Based on our conversation, my impression is that there are no ongoing negotiations with Nokia, which probably means no current discussions about at rate for 3G

your impression and opinion. janet would never tell anyone anything different as to any negotiations ongoing with nok. wether it be 2g or 3g
the same responses where given before the ericy settlement. i wouldn't read too much into your "impressions" from a phone call.

Dave Davis; thanks for the update. Your gem on NOK sure kicked down the price on low volume! LOL, JK

PS watch it flip up again later.

She said that things could change 'if Nokia came knocking on the door,' but that has not happened yet.

DAVE, Are you continuing to quote Janet when you say, 'but that has not happened yet.'?, or are you edifying?
Or does it make any difference?
Thank you for the info.

I also e-mailed Janet about the ASM date and she replied by e-mail that a press release would announce the time and place. Nothing more, nothing less. Did you ask her to reply to your e-mail by phone?

Dav-squared, congrats on scaling the controversy heights.
my interpretation of the comment would be, "idcc is playing hardball, placed their bets, and is, "all in." perhaps janet meant that when nok calls to surrender...which they haven't yet.

besides, there should be a whole lot better visibility between now and the ASM. i won't attend otherwise. i don't look forward to pepper spray and billy sticks.

Settlement bargaining IS ongoing, most likely IMO

I see no evidence that negotiations are not happening.

Just as Nokia "postures" in order to get the best deal it can, so I assume IDCC postures as well.

IDCC's current posture may well be "we're playing hardball and waiting on Nokia to respond with an offer" That would fit nicely with what you report Janet's comment to be ("If Nokia calls...")

Just because the parties are not sitting down eyeball to eyeball does not mean that Nokia-IDCC negotiations are not real and ongoing. There is too much at stake for both Nokia and IDCC for there not to be offers and counter offers during this period.

In other words, Dave, I disagree with your conclusion: "... that there are currently no ongoing negotiations with Nokia, which probably means no current discussions about at rate for 3G" UNLESS you mean "eyeball to eyeball 8 hours a day" by "ongoing negotiations.

I am sorry if you think that my post was directed to You..I read your post and only found 1 actual quote from J.P. which I at the time felt was credible..and certainly not any new news..Janet said that they are 'largely done' with the Nokia arbitration. She said that things could change 'if Nokia came knocking on the door,' but that has not happened yet.
Again I am sorry ..but I did not have your post in mind ..Your "opinion" or "impression" was your priviledge to state..

To All: Just received a call from Janet Point. I had e-mailed her about the delay in setting the date for the ASM.

She said that the delay in setting the date for the ASM was due to the delay in getting out the 10-K, but that she anticipated the ASM would be scheduled for early June as it has been in years past.

I asked if the Nokia arbitration deadline was having any impact on the setting of the ASM date.

She said that, [in 2003], when the Ericsson trial was happening, they were concerned about the timing of the ASM at that time because they thought that they would be extremely busy during the time of the ASM.

However, that is not the case this year. Janet said that they are 'largely done' with the Nokia arbitration. She said that things could change 'if Nokia came knocking on the door,' but that has not happened yet.

Based on our conversation, my impression is that there are currently no ongoing negotiations with Nokia, which probably means no current discussions about at rate for 3G.

Should be an interesting meeting in June.
