The thing I'm worried about is that we would make a less than perfect movie, i.e. the potential is there to make a blockbuster, but you gotta wonder if we're able to pull together the latest and greatest with the rather tight buget (T2 was made on 105 million, and that was 20 years ago).
A lot of people thought the last Terminator film was horrible so I think they are immediately skeptical of any new project. Also, this film is supposed to be entirely CGI which is quite rare for a film of this nature. I can only think of a few CGI films that were not really aimed at kids/families. They are "Nine," "Beowulf," and "Final Fantasy." I'm sure I am missing some but that is what comes to mind.
