#293943 RE: quilix #293941

Quilix, the article gets that wrong about Wimax and Clearwire, IMO.

i'm not a tech guy either, but i think the writer misunderstands what Interdigital is offering*. Its' worded as if AT&T and Verizon already have what IDCC would being doing for Clearwire*, they don't.

AT&T and Verizon (NYSE: VZ) were already backing "this" 4G wireless broadband solution, so Clearwire will have a lot of catching up to do here.

This (pronoun) isn't InterDigital's next-generation LTE technology (antecedent), its just LTE, if that makes sense. Plus IDCC/Clearwire will have a wimax handover component IMO the others are only LTE.

*of course the relationship between IDCC and Clearwire is not publicly announced, so we don't know for sure what's there if anything. But my guess is something is up as it totally makes sense here.

Take a look at pages 12-15 for a look at what IDCC might be doing there.

The latter. LTE is an international standard.(And, Clearwire is merely "testing" LTE, and has not "thrown in the towel on WiMAX", since it continues to open new WiMAX markets.)
