RUSS: Strats to be introduced in SuperHubs infrastructure.

I can see what you are saying however...tell me if you agree or disagree and why ?

RUSS: "GTEL is primarily looking abroad to find cheaper ways to facilitate broadband internet access (among other things) in remote areas"

Well yes they have signed 2 contracts abroad but i'm not sure where from have you concluded that they want to focus mainly abroad services. In letter to shareholders CEO states that STRATS would be implemented over time in infrastucture which is alredy created by them....SUPERHUBS. Look at their main site and look what superhubs cover...WHOLE US, SOUTH AMERICA, ASIA, ALASKA and few other smaller coutries. At least in my understanding that is their direction. sebass

Russ: "..if the STRAT does indeed prove to offer a cheaper alternative to what the BIG GUYS are doing, don't you think they just might want to buy the technology to KEEP IT FROM BECOMING A REALITY.... so their infrastructure of hardware can continue to satisfy needs at higher but stable prices.."

I can understand your point but if that would be the case we would still be watching black and white tvs. Look at HDTV when it was introduced...did the big boys tried to stop it...NO...they bought into to it.

From revenue perspective it's also NO..because if Verizon last year spent 12 billion on cell phone towers and it would cost them only 2 billion to use STRATS(if they prove to be working grea) then they would be able to save 10 billion in cost and MARGIN WOULD BE HUGE. They sure would not over cheaper services....what they would do they would introduce new technology like 3G/4G and change the same pricees $50/month. In this scenario they would have made huge margins, bigger net income and reduce costs. Consumers will never get cheaper rates...instead they will get brand new, state of the art 3G technology.

Stahling this concept is exactly what the big TELCOs have been doing. They want business as usuall. That is why they don't like VOIP & WiMaX. As the recent e-mail from the GTEL guy elluded to putting the Strat together its like assembling "tinker toys" the groundstation logistics are a more crucial interface.
