Jkjones re Nokia being paid-up for 3G you said:

..."Although the NOK/SAM arbitrations are important for 2G revenues, they don't automatically unlock the 3G royalty stream - particularly as Nokia is almost paid up for 3G."

First great to see you back. Second I'm not refuting the main points of your post, but only the above bolded phrase. Nokia is paid-up only for single-mode TDD products in 3G. They are NOT paid-up for the following 3G products: CDMA2000, WCDMA-FDD including HSDPA enhanced, or any dual-mode TDD product. Almost all 3G products for the next several years will probably be CDMA2000, FDD, and then FDD-HSDPA, which are all royalty-bearing to Nokia after 2001 and not paid-up. Even when TDD 3G products begin to emerge later in commercial volume, they will more than likely have to be dual-mode with FDD and HSDPA at first.

nok does not pay idcc for any "single mode" TDD product they produce......which really shouldnt be much of a problem since its believed that most products that contain TDD will be dual mode (ie, with FDD).....

laranger: Here it is in writing:

InterDigital Copyright and Know-How License Grant. InterDigital hereby grants to the Nokia Group a non-exclusive, non-transferable, personal, worldwide, royalty-free license under InterDigital Licensed TDD Technology (including all related TDD Technical Information as a result of the TDD Project) .........

Are you saying that, if NOK uses TDD patents, they don't have to pay, even after January 1, 2002?
