2b on Mac Security

You know that I worked every day on a Mac for a couple of years at the end of the last century (love that phrase in my life). I'm sure all here would appreciate a brief explaination of why Mac security is so much better than PC above and beyond these two generalities:

1. fewer viruses and hackers attack the Mac environment because their are fewer of them with Mac experience or Macs.

2. The open source community is capable of providing quicker updates when holes are uncovered. (I'm not sure if this is true and if it is please explain why.)

I don't think this is off topic because Mac is at least as important to the computer world as Fujitsu, Acer, or Ansus and understanding how and if they can operate within the TCG world may mean of lot of both bucks and support for TCG and Wave.

And besides I really want to understand this myself. If they are truly interoperable I might go back. fwiw I have a Franklin (an original Apple II clone and fairly rare that I'm saving as a collectible for my great (in every way) grandchildren. The price in fifty years, like Wave, is currently binary, lol

PS The current major stockholder of Franklin Computers (now the publisher of electronic dictionaries) first heard the name Franklin from me about 25 years ago.

TVPICK…a new exciting TVTonic Service…

For few days ago TVTonic is live with their revamped web site. As has been pointed out by some posters there appears to be a new service coming on line soon: TVPICK

As can be seen in the description TVPICK will soon allow to record movies played on movie channels to be recorded on your PC for later viewing. The enlarged screen snapshot lists to major channels, HBO and Showtime

What I find interesting is the fact that TVPICK appears to be the first implementation of a movie distribution model in the consumer space. Let’s for a moment assume that these major movie channels are going to widen their customer base leveraging Wavexpress’ TVTonic technology. How would it work?

Think about the following scenario:

*** HBO and SHOWTIME make their movies available via broadband to consumers via TVTonic.

*** The customer selects (filters) a movie for later viewing and records the movie on the HD. Now, this is most likely not limited for recording on the traditional PC only, moreover, I believe the primary target platform will be entertainment PCs running Microsoft’s MCE

*** Customers using TVPICK will have to pay on a pay-per-view basis and Wavexpress’ back office infrastructure and possible partners would handle the DRM and payment(s)

*** I would assume that legacy and TPM enabled PCs would, in a first step, be able to tap TVPICK

*** By adopting this model HBO and SHOWTIME (and possibly others) would instantaneously be in a position to tap a significantly larger market and customers would have the ability to watch HBO and SHOWTIME movies on a selective pay-per-view basis.

*** There are many that do not subscribe to these movie channels, but many will/would tap these movie channels for particular movies.

Who wins?

All participants win! The movie channels increase revenue. The consumer only pays on a pay-per-view basis. WaveXpress generates revenue. If TPMs are involved Wave gets paid for their infrastructure services.

And 2bStealthy would have to admit that not only Apple has understood how to service the consumer space…although, at this time, they sure appear to do everything right…
