Hi all....re: TPM activation

A long time ago, I posted, that it would be necessary to be able to turn the TPM on without touching the BIOS directly. With HP Protect Tools you can modify the BIOS and turn the TPM on with a NORMAL Windows application (Protect Tools). This is much easier since folks are used to work with Windows applications.
After this step the machine boots automatically and you'll be able to take ownership of the TPM.

I think it shouldn't be that difficult to develop the same feature within ETS, especially on Dell and Acer machines, since Wave is already deeply integrated in the BIOS. (think about preboot authentification ETDM).

Furthermore this feature would strengthen our relationsship with these OEMs.

Nice sunday all

Brand the "turning of the TPM on" for the consumer into something meaningful.

OEM adds a another customization check box during order process:

Enable "cool consumer brand name security"? Yes [ ] No [x]

(make sure the consumer understands in plain, understandable language what clicking Yes does and what clicking No does. Inform her of all the benefits of clicking Yes.

OEM can still default to No being checked.

Choose No (default) when ordering, same as today.
Choose Yes when ordering and everything is turned on out of the box.

Note that choosing Yes may require x number of additional minutes by OEM configuration personnel. Time = Money, so the OEM would have to be willing to do this.
