Many years ago, a neighbour’s boyfriend was playing silly person in an empty lot next to a mall. He was building ramps with some left over construction junk and jumping over other debris with his dirt bike. After a few successes, he’d construct bigger ramps and larger piles of junk to jump. A few people stopped their cars to watch. Eventually, he was jumping over some empty oil barrels. By then, he’d attracted quite an audience. He turned the barrels on end, built a HUGE ramp, and took some practice runs, stopping before the actual jump, and backing down the ramp. The audience began to multiply even more. He built suspense to put professional performers to shame.

He removed his helmet and holding it out, visited each car for a donation. Most tossed him a dollar, but a few donated two.

He transferred the money to his pocket, replaced his helmet, and calmly rode off across the field.

I still chuckle when I think of his stunt.

Cheers, PW.

WTMHouston: Welcome to the board. You are probably rght about the ramp. This morning I found him propping a piece of plywood up on a cinder block, so we put his ramp back together. I figure he will be safer with a more stable set up. We did compromise though, we made it 12" high (for now anyway). I know that I did some of the stupidest stunts when I was about his age, so I guess I should expect it. (Rappeling from the barn roof comes to mind. Rope wrapped around belt. Of course, belt broke, no gloves, rope burns on hands that lasted for weeks :) He's already asking me to help him build a half-pipe. We'll have to wait and see about that one. Good luck and Welcome again ~ shao
