The weather has improved greatly since my last post, but as I've said before, "the damage has been done."
Replanting has been taking place in the last couple of days. Many are replanting corn in the original corn fields, while some are going to beans in the org. corn fields. Maybe 50-50 split. I saw several fields today that had been planted for the first time, to "presumably" beans. These were all in Northern and Central Iowa. Saw two planters stuck in the mud today. Many fields won't be replanted for another week+.
It's been a very frustrating year for Iowans.
A lot of sprayers are running as well as some sidedressing of N.
Lots of "dust devils", which are said by oldtimers to mean dry weather ahead. Sure seems like its drying out now. Sunny and dry days...average's made by extremes???
My best guess on % Iowa acres lost...18%.
