#2521 RE: iahawkeye #2520

Iahawkeye I got these off AgWeb on the Crop Comments thread so apologize if any of the details are off. Hope things dry out for you soon. More importantly I hope you are nutting out other ways to profit from your misfortunes. Its a shame to see all that price action head into Wall St coffers.

What I am trying to get my head around is exactly short term how this is going to affect the livestock market. I think the automatic reaction is to anticipate a dumping of inventories in the front months but its doesn't really seem to be happening that way yet. Certainly the volatility in the livestock complex shows the funds too are keen to be at the table when meat prices go ballistic. I really think deferred meat futures put ion a bottom a good month ago now. It seems a good time to be getting long exposure to the meats.

Also how is the rail and transport sector likely to manage this flooding? There is likely to have been damage to roads and rail and will this affect movement of livestock and grain to market in these areas? Even things like power and propane supply would have to be being affected? And what of soy seed, herbicide and fertilizer supplies given resowing seems to be something folks would consider. Appreciate your thoughts ...
