thank you Happydog...It was an honest question. I never cast stones seeing as how I live in a glass house. I don't care how a person gets to Christ as long as he/she gets there. I have quite a library which I acquired after my parents passed on...All Christian lit., study material, Bibles, Refer. Bibles and so on and so forth. I have spent a fair amount of time trying to learn a little on this subject. everything you posted I have read....I just do not understand. Say like in Acts 1...everything I read says these men were from other parts of the world, speaking different languages, then the Holy Spirit came upon devout men and they speaking in tongues (Other Languages)..would be quite a miracle if all of a sudden I starting speaking in German, Italian etc.
Then also Paul wrote concerning tongues that the speaking of tongues is not a sign to believers but a sign to unbelievers.
Please, I am not finding fault, just discussing. I just do not understand the point to it in 2008....I would love to share thoughts, but, in no way do I want to offend another in Christ. We are called for different purposes and I respect those callings, I just do not understand..so I ask to learn

Excellent post happydog, on the gift of speaking in tongues. Like vitamins to our spirit and bypassing our flesh and even our own understanding. You use great scripture references, and were very nonthreatening. Thank you!

Many denominational churches get caught up in silly quarrels over the gift of tongues and many have become very hurt. Some say that you have to speak in tongues to be a true believer, while others say it's of the devil.

I myself consider it to be a consummation of my spirit and the spirit of my Lord excluding my flesh. As there are things that I hold personal with my spouse, so also there are things I hold special with my Lord, the gift of tongues is one of these to me. Thanks for your very good post. :-) Val
