yup its been considered, another issue is this, if this pile of tailings is so hot and u308 being water soluble it has been suggested the u308 is settling downwards
uh hehe well then wouldnt it be fair to suggest that reclaiming the soil underneath the pile might not just be such an easy or cheap affair?
think about it we could very well be talking about reclaiming a lot of soil if it is contaminated, we know rsds does not likely know the extent of the contamination and its depth, as they have yet to remove the pile and find out!!
and what is to come of this soil?....trucked to an incinerator? all very good questions indeed!!
Now on the other hand it might also be true that theirs a limit to the depth they have to reclaim as right now this pile of tailings aint exactly helping the environment, I dont see any major plants growing on it that is.
