loophole73: "IDCC forced them into this position with a very overreaching interpretation of the Samsung Arbitration decision."

How did IDCC force them into anything. NOK & Sam met before anyone signal they were going for "arbitration" Did you say this to the Judges. NOK may be playing by the rules now?? but what about before. Let's say Sam was ready to sign and NOK say's look under the table, might be a little some thing for you if you don't sign. Doesn't have to "cash" could be something Sam needed more than cash.
Was not Sam in talks with IDCC, then they visit NOK and they start playing hard ball. That tells me something happen in there metting. Just doesn't smell right.

Loop- Do you think that NOK is contractually bound to the same rate as ERICY, or do you think that they have a little wiggle room as a result of MFL provisions? Presuming that they have a little wiggle room, don't you think that their rate will be lower than Samsung's, on the basis of sales?

Loop, re the 6000 shares "acquired" by Shaner and Zabarsky, yep they are grants...I was trying to softshoe around that by using words like compensation and restricted. The question that the answer of which the I can't remember is: Are the 6000 for one year or the three year term? Anyway, it really doesn't matter as that deal is done and as I told Arthritis that seems to be the going rate...at least in KoP. They do seem to be qualified, and hopefully interested in making themselves and the rest of us a whole lot of money.

As far as the NOK/SAM meeting...I was just throwing out some links to articles about the meeting between 'Ollijah' and 'Koon-hey'. I agree the meeting had little to do with the IDCC arbitration proceedings as that was already determined by Nokia's position, but I don't doubt that during lunch in the executive dining room the multi-million dollar subject came up somewhere between the Finlandia Vodka and the Sushi or the Smoked Kippers and Cigars.

Ronnie seems to think that Samsung somehow created the impetus for Nokia's supposed change of heart and tactics with IDCC. Not sure where he's getting this idea...anything's possible I guess. Did Samsung maybe offer NOK some sort of significant market concession or terms in their technology collaboration in return for a more agressive stance from NOK toward IDCC?
