When shares are issued on OTC market, do they necessarily show up as traded for that day?
..... No, shares issued on the OTC market don't necessarily show up as traded for that day. Here's why:
OTC transactions are dealer networks: Unlike major exchanges with centralized trading, OTC markets rely on broker-dealers to connect buyers and sellers. Issuing shares doesn't guarantee an immediate trade.
Issuance is separate from trading: The company issuing shares might do so for various reasons (fundraising, employee stock options etc.), and it may take time for those shares to be purchased by investors on the OTC network.
However, the issuance can influence future trading. More shares outstanding can affect the stock price depending on investor demand.
Shares go up when the company issues new shares for any reason. The initial transaction of issuing them is not a market sale (unless via an ATM). So the newly issued shares are not in themselves market volume.
Even if the shares are being flipped by whomever they are issued to the volume and share increase dates will not align for several reasons.
BTW, despite the bogus post by one long, most shares are not being issued for warrant conversions. This has been shown in all recent 10Qs. We will see again in a day or so.
I was thinking the same thing. I asked before if dilution counted as volume and was told yes. So how does adding 2 million shares not equal 2 million volume?
