I loved the idea of the mets signing him when I thought his contract would of looked like Rodriguez. Say 4/80 or so. But at 6/150+ I hope somebody else signs him, not that the mets are planning on doing much to improve the team yet the plan is that they be competitive in some way. shaking my head with the strategy. I know everyone get giddy of what he did in the playoffs, but that is alot of innings on his arm. That is my main concern, that his arm is closer to a problem, because of it.
If people have expectation that he is an ace than that is faulty thinking, if people have him as 2/3 which to be fair I had him as a 3/4 when he was with the yankees. Hence the difference is you get innings either way with a .25-to .50 lower era over the close of the season, So the difference isn't that much. I mean if he is at his best you can expect a pitcher with an era in the low 3's (Like 3.25) at worst assuming he is healthy like a 3.75 era if he reverts back to yankees form. Either way he is not an ace, and your giving him a very long-term deal for a guy who probably pitches to a 3.5 era, and had a lot of wear and tear from last year. Time will tell, But he is gonna get too much for my liking, but you had to figure the price would go up a lot thanks to his postseason efforts in my opinion.
