I mean forget what we seen on the mets in august since the deadline we get nothing from that. They were over .500 before the month of June they were over .500 in July. Essentially the mets although always seemed to underachieve, june was so bad it skewed the stats, the thing is they were in all those games as well. If this team probably would have been allowed to play on my guess is they would of pushed over .500 in the next month, now is this team good enough to win anything, too infuriating too many holes specifically in that lineup and bullpen and chronic underachiving, and horrific managing. So probablythe answer is no, But we would of cared the last two months because of the weak nl wildcard race.

But keep in mind the first month we didn't have verlander, than it took another month to get him up to speed. We didn't have quintana the first three months. Even Scherzer who to be fair I think is starting to lose it, and when I say that, he is still a competent starter, if your looking for a #3 not an ace anymore. The thing Is. The mets had a winning record when scherzer pitched, and verlander and senga, and my guess if the team was left intact they would of had a winning record with quintana. The problem is because of injuries there were two many starts by megill and carrasco who have flat out stunk. And peterson who has stunk, but too be fair, that was the one that came out of nowhere, I expected and probably the mets expected him to be good.

The reason why I didn't like there current strategy of trading away talent for prospects is they traded pitching, to get 0 pitching, in a team that needs, you guess it pitching. I also have my doubts these prospects work. Hope I'm wrong, but my View of Eppler is everything he touches turn to well, you can figure out the rest. I think the mets probably could of made a run, probably would of fell short in infuriating fashion but this isn't the AL that last wildcard isn't playing 20 Games over 500, heck the first wildcard might not even play 20 games over 500 (Although I do think the Phillies are the third best team in the NL this year. In fact the last two might not even play 10 over, in fact I think the last one will struggle to win much more than 85 and that might be optimistic. Hence to give up on a season, for a guy making the decision that I have about as much confidence in, as My next 100 buys in the stock market will all be winners. Chances are slim to none on that. And The verlander trade in my opinion hurt next year as well. And too get 0 pitching back at of this excercise, means guess what you still have to buy pitching and my guess unless your getting guys who we don't want to see the deals will at least be 2-3 year deals, and possibly more if you want the top of the market, and guess what the mets are not gonna need 1, not even 2 but 3 pitchers in there rotations, 3 bullpen arms of quality, and all this we get Diaz back, great, that replaces robertson who you traded away, the bullpen still needs numerous arms to be good. And guess what they need a LF, a DH please no more vogelbach, And now 3b is in question too they sent Baty down, they will not lets us take a look at maurcio for some reason, Vientos who admittingly I think his bat has potential more than most also believes his 3b play is gonna be waaaaaaaaaaaaay below average. You can hide a suspect LF, not a suspect infielder. Those are gonna hurt. Hence Why I have no Clue why Vientos hasn't seen time in LF, his arm seems okay, it has to be better than the stuff they are showing out there in the OF right now. I mean That Almonte guy who they DFA'd not only couldn't he not move, his arm had trouble reaching the infield litterally. I can't say I'm very optimistic in fact I'm very negative about what has gone on, and now this stuff about possibly trading Pete. This owner said to us fans they are gonna compete next year, well lets see, I have my doubts, I think repositioning and dead money means focusing more to development, and punting again on 2024, Which to me makes me think of previous ownership. All of these negative outside of this season being disappointing was unknown to me a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't believe they send baty down, and I still can't believe maurcio isn't up here either. Everything about this season has been a disaster, and unless the mets are planning on spending a boatload they will not be competitive next year despite what the owner say they have no pitching staff right now for starters, and I'm not even getting into there lineup that could use massive and I do mean massive upgrades as well. All is just my opinion, and I could always be wrong though.

Looks like those top 2 performing mutual funds are back in the money, now that they've left New York. Scherzer and Verlander are looking like aces for the Rangers and stros, who I'm sure are delighted that Cohen is paying them to pitch next year.

The Mets had a plan and bailed on it. Was the plan the problem or was the bailing the problem?
