#207170 RE: rocketeer357 #207169

I think Bailing was the problem, Esepcialy with verlander. He was pitching like an ace for the mets. And here my problem how can you trust eppler got the right prospects back, my guess is they will all pretty much fail. Furthermore you trade away David robertson, Scherzer and Verlander, and out of the deal you don't get 1 pitcher. Not 1 I tell you. Furthermore, the mets were over 500 before june, they were over .500 in July. And there staff was finally starting to cut the dead weight with Quintana back. The reason why they primariy failed this year was because there sp was trouble.

Than again, There were times where verlander missed the 1rst month, than the next month he was ramping up to get into the groove. Scherzer although I believe he is waaaaaaaaay past his prime at this point, Also with the suspension and the injury missed a month plus as well. Quintana Missed three month, you finally get him back, and quintana coming back was big you replacing a uncompetitive pitcher like say tylor megill and putting a competent starter in his place. Do I Think the mets would of got in probably not. But us mets fans would of cared. more importantly I have 0 faith in the prospects the mets received I mean look at who is making the trades. And all this dead weight on next year does than mean we don't sign the top of the line players and leave plenty of holes. And than they will say they will be competitive in 2024, but unless they are adding alot of pieces and a number of high quality ones can't see how that is the case. I continue to say they traded pitching, which pitching depth was the weakeness for 0 pitching, and the guy making the trades anyone with a brain realizes he cannot be trusted.

We have dead weight to 2024 affecting probably our chance to field a competitive team. And we place the narrative that scherzer and Verlander have failed. The Answer is there 4th and 5th starters before these trades and before quintana came back were so uncompetive and bullpen killers, they rarely make it 4 or 5 innings. Look at today another classic carrasco start 3 innings and done. Megill Has been uncompetitive. Peterson who part of me still think's there is potential in there has been a disaster in games he is started. It hasn't worked because 40% of there rotation most of the year, was uneffective, and they had an outrageous june which skewed the numbers, They were over .500 before they entered the month, they were over .500 in july before they traded everyone away. In this lousy nl wildcard race the mets could of been competitive. I could of been sold this trades if I believed the guy making them, and that person thought it was a good idea for a team lacking pitching depth all year when they trade there better pitchers get some pitching prospects, but they didn't do that. I believe the mets probably would of had a run in them if they didn't go this route, now to be fair it is not because they were that great it is just because the NL wildcard isn't exactly gonna be played at 90, it may not make much more than 85, and that might be proven to optimistic.

Now with the trades to field a competitive team we are gonna have to sign guy for much longer-term contracts on the pitching front, or they will be signing guys who are not very good, and the whole competitive thing was a lie. I would like to say I have overwhelming confidence that these prospects will work out, but my guess when it comes to Eppler this will be an epic fail. And the sad part is there are people going on and on about how he stole prospects from teams. And how the GM made these brilliant moves. I'm wondering if he still has his job after this year that is even scarier, didn't think that would have any shot a couple of weeks ago, now I think there is a realistic shot he is here, and that is an unmitigated disaster just thinking about it. All is just my opinion, and I could always be wrong though.
