I generally leave those posts up.

However, we cannot ignore that sometimes politics, be it regulatory issues, matters before Congress or the courts, etc, relate directly to a given company and are a reasonable topic of dialog there.

In the real world it seems rare to have a conversation about damn near anything without politics coming into it.

This is true and we are greatly diminished because of it.

Look, it is clear that the new rules have been under consideration for a long time (almost 5 years based on Shelly's earlier comment). I can also understand iHub's desire to make it seem to users that they had some kind of input rather than just announcing the new rules.

But hey, I'm an old(er) guy. I've seen a lot and am pretty good at seeing through the fog.

Please, just tell us what you propose for the new rules. We can handle it. THEN I can make my decision. Simple.

In the current broadly divided political environment, it's a juggernaut with a mind of its own. In the real world it seems rare to have a conversation about damn near anything without politics coming into it.

You know what might help? Why not allow a few free politics boards? Much of the political discussion on stock boards now is started by free users who'd like to indulge in political chat. Yes, of course those free users could just pay for a sub, but I have the feeling they mostly don't do that.

So why not let them post on the existing politics boards, or create new ones for them?
