If you don't need income, you don't need income. I reinvest some and take some, but I can always change that.
As for TA, I've only been doing it for 27 years now successfully.
The problem with TA, isn't the strategy, it's the use of the strategy. Too many people think they can day trade with it, or use the wrong charts.
It's the equivalent of you seeing penny stock traders and saying "investing is bad!"
I don't know what you mean by "academic evidence", but historic evidence is very easy to see.
