To be a whistleblower would require integrity and desire for truth to come out. That pretty much leaves out anyone connected to one of those companies.
Most of those in a position to have the knowledge to blow the whistle are also likely implicated in any alleged wrongdoing and might not necessarily qualify for those benefits. It depends upon what the applicable laws say. The whistleblower protection ordinances I am more familiar with at the local level are not big on financially rewarding corrupt individuals who decide to out the very same corruption they themselves have participated in.
Sure they might still earn themselves immunity from prosecution in exchange for testifying but then they will be blackballed in the industry.
